Dear Warrior family members,

Can you believe how this academic year has flown by? It’s time to start preparing for your student’s departure from campus housing. We’ve loved building community with your Warrior student this year and want to make sure their Move-out experience is a smooth one.

We've sent information about Move-out to your student's @wayne.edu email, and have hosted several floor meetings for RAs to explain our procedures. I want to highlight some key information that will help both you and your student as they depart campus.

Move-out appointments. Please make sure your student has signed up for a Check-out time with their Resident Advisor (RA). This helps the process of room inspections run smoothly, and gives your student the opportunity to discuss any potential damages to the room with a staff member. If they do not want to have an appointment, they can complete an Express Check-out at their front desk.

Pack your patience! If you haven’t heard, the NFL Draft 2024 is happening in Detroit this weekend. If you’re planning to assist your student with moving out, please be aware that traffic around campus may be heavy.

Where to park. You are welcome to park in WSU Parking Structures 8, 5, or 2 while you move your student out. Street parking is also available, but at your own expense. We recommend you download the Park Detroit app for a seamless experience. WSU Parking Structures are pay-as-you-exit. Please DO NOT park on the service drive behind Towers/in front of Chatsworth, and do not pull on to WSU sidewalks.

Bring your rain gear and a dolly.  You heard this from us at Move-in and is another good thing to consider for Move-out! We will have some tarps available, but it might be useful to bring an umbrella or two. We highly recommend NOT leaving loaded vehicles unattended as street parking is not monitored.

Elevator and stair usage.  Getting from the building to the car your belongings can be one of the  biggest challenges. There are never enough elevators it seems! If your student's room is on a lower floor in any building, stairwells will be open to carry belongings down if you want to skip the elevator wait.

If you need anything or are unsure about the next steps during Move-out, our central office can be reached at 313-577-2116 or housing@wayne.edu.

We hope that your student has had a successful, engaging, and fun year living on campus with us. Thank you for trusting us to provide safe and enriching home away from home for your student. And, thank you in advance for helping us create a smooth Move-out experience for all. Have a wonderful summer.

Go Warriors!
