Art Inspirations and DC Happenings
The weather is finally (finally!) starting to warm up here in the DC area. For me, that means opening all the windows and letting in the fresh air and sunlight. Spring has always been a great time to assess your surroundings. What's working for you? What's not working for you? Does your space energize you for a new season? If you have been looking at your walls and thinking time for an upgrade, I am here to help! Read on for a few of my current art inspirations and DC happenings that are giving me fresh perspectives this spring.

You still have time to check out this collaboration between Robin Davisson and Martha Spak at Studio Lab in Georgetown (near Caddy’s Alley). The show, featuring original art and prints, runs through May 5. First time to Studio Lab? It's an inspiring, artful space where owner and artist Robin Davisson creates and hosts fun art events. Many of you may recognize Martha Spak's work from several LHAC projects. View an installation of one of her gorgeous landscapes in this collection.

Proof that good things come in small packages! I am loving these 5x5 minis on paper by Carlyn Janus. They pack so much color and interesting brushwork onto a small surface. My client picked out 4 from this series to add to her collection and they are currently at the frame shop getting gorgeous custom framing! Can't wait for install day!

One of my favorite DC area artists is getting ready to move overseas! You may recognize her work from several LHAC client projects. You can view installations of Megan's work in this collection, this collection, and this collection. If you're interested in seeing any of her remaining paintings, I'm happy to arrange a studio visit prior to May 15. And fortunately for all of us stateside, Megan will start shipping work from her new London studio in early fall!

What is Artomatic? It's DC's largest unjuried arts festival that showcases the work of both emerging and established artists. The show is featured on multiple floors (it has taken over an entire vacant building!) and is located at 2100 M Street NW, Washington DC. The festival is free and open to the public through Sunday. I haven't gone yet, but am planning on checking it out before it closes!

Did you know? Not only do I help clients frame newly acquired artwork, but also pieces that they already own! Sometimes frame styles can start to feel out of date, while other times frames themselves may have gotten dinged, scratched, or broken over the years. Whatever the case, fresh, updated framing is called for! I promise you, if it's a piece you love, then investing in new framing is completely worth it.

Have you been to any amazing art shows recently? Did you visit Artomatic? Have you checked out a new gallery that you just loved? I want to hear from you! Send me an email at lh.fineartconsultant@gmail.com and let me know what should be on my radar this spring!

As always, thanks for being here! The greater DC area has an amazing arts community that I love being a part of. If you know anyone who might like this newsletter, be sure to forward it along and have them sign up so that they don't miss out on all the good art inspiration to come!

Best, Lauren Heller
