Hello from Pearson's again, and welcome back to Fieldwork, my newsletter about making my first photo book (here's a link to previous letters).

Happy Mother's Day too!

The Paris Photo Book… 70 Seconds in Paris… Paris on Film… French 35… How to Go to Paris?

I'm not sure what to call this thing yet, but it's taking shape in my mind. Instead of the usual heavy 300-page tome that most photo books seem to be, I want this to feel like a novella.

This book needs to be a slim, fabric-bound hardcover with no dust jacket and screen-printed logo. It should end up being a little under 100 pages long.

Books like this are beautiful, durable, portable and concise. Here are some examples for reference:

Straight from the Horse's Mouth - Hermès
The Win Without Pitching Manifesto - Blair Enns
Kissa by Kissa - Craig Mod

That's the vision. Can you see it too?

Talk soon,

Josh

P.S. Here's a picture that won't make it into the book: Sacré-Cœur gleaming in the morning sun, waiting for the crowds. Why not include it? I'll explain in the next letter.
