Reminder to get your tickets to “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime!”

I had the pleasure of consulting with the cast of The Colonial Players in Annapolis last week!  Steve Tobin is directing this FABULOUS play, featuring an Autistic lead character.  I was blown away by this group of actors!  They come from a wealth of lived experience with Neurodivergence, and it shows.  The play opens this week, and I would LOVE for you to go see Drew Saint Amour as the lead character, Christopher.  Bring the tissues.

On May 12th, The Colonial Players are hosting a talkback with yours truly as well as representatives from “People On the Go” and the Autism Society of Baltimore-Chesapeake following the 2:00 show.  The talkback is free.  Tickets to the show are on sale now.  Link below.

I was lucky enough to grab tickets to see “How to Dance in Ohio” before it went off Broadway earlier this year.  They were recognized for having 7 lead Autistic characters and actors.  The show has been a big topic of discussion in the Autistic world.   After seeing rehearsals from the Colonial Players, I think "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time" is giving Broadway level impact right in our own community.

Check it out!  They are a very small theater, and I am certain that tickets will sell out.

Sensory-Friendly Performances will be offered on Saturday, May 11 and Thursday, May 16.

And for this week's installment of “Practice What you Preach"
Regulation means leaning in to things that make your brain and body feel safe, comfy, and taken care of.  This weekend, I spent some SOLO time in a new rocking chair on my deck finishing up a great book, doing a little writing, drinking coffee, and letting my body chill before anyone was awake in my house.  If you haven't rocked in a chair in a while, you really need to give it a try (like swinging on the playground but better!)  It was amazing.  One of my kiddos couldn't resist joining, and we had some awesome parallel play time.

Obviously, I couldn't leave “good enough” alone. So Sunday included a glow up of the deck: a raised flower bed, lights, poles, and flowers, and now I may never go back inside.

But…I will defend all my deck impulsivity by reminding us all that outdoor time prevents burnout, and helps our bodies feel regulated!
