I’ve been the luckiest person this month. I spent nearly everyday drawing and/or cooking. So for this month's newsletter I would like to share some of my drawings. 

Light Warrior 2020-2022, black ink on paper, 11" x 14" 

I actually started this one a long time ago and completely forgot about it. I Love it. It’s a strong one to me. The eyes are either in dread state or are they just completely empty. I showed it to Jeremy and he asked if it was supposed to be me. lol. I didn’t know and still don’t have an answer to that. Maybe the eyes is where light is being invited in.

 

I rediscovered* this piece the same night as the last one. It’s not finished, but I remember I left it alone months or maybe even over a year ago because I was so unhappy with it, I thought it was so ugly and going no where. I see today that that assessment was super harsh and also incorrect. It’s a hole new little world to me. I see where it’s going now and actually love its potential. 

 

Making it into a little cartoon world helps me and entertains me. I get to turn it into a total fantasy and it becomes a word or a world I don’t yet know how to describe. I’d love to see it in a gallery on a screen with the animation, maybe to some serene little ballad playing above it, I think they're sweet and playful.

What your eyes see when they're closed, 2024, black ink on paper, 11" x 14"

People really responded to this when I posted the progress of it as a story to my ig. Someone asked for some details and I said, “pen on paper..that’s it” . I realize I was withholding. I closed my eyes one day and rubbed them and then I saw a sort of splatter? Or puddle of black and white, pooling like a warp zone - still with the eyes closed. It’s hard to explain in words what your eyes see when they’re closed so this was/is my attempt at explaining through my drawing what it is I saw. I really like love this one too.
