Welcome to The Art of Place…

a new learning resource for nature photographers

 

I am feeling all sorts of things today…  

 

EXHAUSTED after months of rebranding, redesigning, and finally launching my brand new website.  

EXCITED about opening the digital doors to my new learning resource for nature photographers - The Art of Place.

GRATEFUL for an incredible community of friends and followers.

 

I've been away from social media and this newsletter for some time now due to a death in my family, and I'm not gonna lie, it's been terribly hard. But I've received a lot of support from so many people, and have been incredibly uplifted time and again by my friends, my family, and my photography community. And I am finally feeling ready to get back to work.

 

And so it is that my rebrand and concurrent launch of The Art of Place has been delayed, with little-to-no time for marketing or fanfare. But it is complete and ready for me to share with you all and so here we are for a relatively quiet launch 🎉🎉🎉

 

The Art of Place empowers creative landscape & nature photographers to elevate their artistry and find meaningful connections with the natural world.  

 

It's like art school… but for nature photographers.

I believe that we can harness nature’s stories to tell our own stories, and that this process of expression can improve our well-being and feed our souls.

 

 

Are you seeking artistic growth as part of your creative photography practice?  At The Art of Place, I offer an expanding collection of learning tools including eBooks, digital decks, private online mentoring, and private field workshops that focus on more than just the technical side of photography. Yes, mastering the technical details is important, but developing your ability to see, connect, and create in an expressive way is equally important!  

 

Finding actionable instruction on the artistic aspects of photography is challenging - I know this from personal experience.  But you’re in the right place. I can help you develop your inner artist, find new and exciting ways to connect with the natural world, and ultimately create more personally meaningful, expressive work.

I am currently accepting applications for ONLINE MENTORING - limited openings!

 

Mentoring can be a key part of developing your vision and your skills, and can effectively fast-track you to reaching your full potential as an artist. I work with a limited number of landscape and nature photographers on a variety of topics, including exploring style and vision, building skills, learning specific techniques, goal-setting, portfolio reviews and image critiques, embracing creativity, and more.

 

I am currently accepting bookings for private field workshops - limited spots available!

 

Are you interested in shooting with me in the field? Would you like to learn how I approach my shoots artistically and logistically? Or learn about my favorite locations? I now offer private half and full day workshops in my home region.
