Welcome to May Doula-la Notes! Spring is here, well, almost depending on the weather. I enjoy taking walks at the seaside, which is close to my home, watching the sea, the blossoming trees, and the beautiful view of the islands right across. It helps me to be more creative to connect with nature.

 

May is International Doula Month, and we are celebrating it as the Turkey Doula Alliance with a movie night. We will watch together the movie ‘The Business of Being Born’ and then we will chat about the movie on May 19th, which is also a special national holiday in Turkey.

 

Since my last newsletter, in between my birth education sessions, I have been mostly working on my International Business Immersion Course, my presentation that I prepare to teach for a doula training course in Georgia, my volunteer work with the European Doula Network. Last weekend, I taught my first session of the doula training. I mostly talked about the fundamentals of doula work, personal values, and working with people from different cultures. It was a lot of excitement to share the doula love with the doula sisters to be. 

 

 

I am happy to announce that you will find a new section in my blog called ‘Guest Interviews’. The first of these interviews is with Aygül Kurt Köseoğlu. She is a very successful women's health physiotherapist. She used to be my colleague, is still my exercise instructor, and is a very dear friend of mine. I am so lucky to have learned the importance of pelvic floor muscles during pregnancy and afterbirth from her. Her practice is very much aligned with mine, and I am always happy to refer her to all the mothers I work with. I have had the privilege of exercising with a physiotherapist, thanks to her, for the past six years.
