WHEW.
I seriously can’t believe I did that!!

• 24 miles in 24 hours
• 1 mile every hour {yes, even throughout the night!}
• NO back-to-back miles, meaning you can’t do a mile at 6:50pm and do another mile at 7:00pm - there has to be a break in between!

Last year a few of my fitness accountability partners signed up for this challenge and I thought they were CRAZY hahaha!! Who would ever voluntarily give up a night of sleep to RUN????
Turns out, me. It’s me. I’m the crazy one ;)
Was it hard? YES. But that’s why I signed up for it - I wanted to prove to myself that I was capable! I started at 5am on Wednesday and went through the final mile at 4am on the following Thursday. I knew the overnight miles would be the hardest, and they absolutely were. While everyone was sleeping, I was grinding - I was tired, sore, and hit a wall about Mile 19/20, but man I’m so glad I pushed through!
Would I do it again? Hmmmm - ask me again in a few months LOL; it’s like how you forget about the pain of childbirth after your first baby enough to have more ;) I wouldn’t say no, but not ready to commit yet!!
1. I packed a bag the day before with everything I needed - a few changes of clothes and socks, a small water bottle, a larger gallon jug to refill, gels/electrolytes, my mileage tracker discs, and fully-charged earbuds.

2. Great playlist I put together
3. A few Netflix shows lined up that I’ve been wanting to watch
4. Meal prepped a few lighter “snacks” for on the go! Think chicken breasts, veggies, cashews, bananas, oranges, and peanut butter.

I planned for wind, I planned for hills, I planned for the hard overnight miles - but I DIDN’T plan for my knee to start disagreeing with me about halfway through. So grateful for my husband to run and grab me a compression sleeve so I could keep going - it was just a lot of stress on the kneecap area throughout the day that I hadn’t anticipated.

I thought I would sleep in between the middle of the night intervals, but turns out I was too afraid I would sleep through my multiple phone alarms hahaha, so I couldn’t fall asleep. If I did this challenge again I would put more trust in my technology so I could try to rest a bit more ;) That said, I was fully happy to lay down on the couch and catch up on a few shows until the next mile! It was kind of fun!
Community is KEY!! Although I ran this challenge alone, it was SO helpful to have people checking on me throughout the day, sending me notes of encouragement, and cheering me on! I would read through those between intervals and it would fill my tank for the next one - so thank you to each of you who sent me some love, you have no idea how much that helped!!

Everyone was joking about my changes of clothes throughout the day of this challenge, but sitting in sweaty clothing is NOT my idea of fun so I definitely packed some extra outfits to change into during the day.
This way I know my phone will stay put, my leggings will stay up, and the sweat-wicking material will keep me cool!
