Hey Muses!

Happy Juneteenth. Happy Summer. Happy Pride. Happy Men's Mental Health Awareness Month. Happy June… what else? It's so many things that happen in June. I am excited about this month! Why? First the weather is warmer (well downright hot), it's so light at 8:20pm and I have vacation days already scheduled (hey, are you taking your PTO?) I went to Memphis for a girls trip (it was such a refreshing reset,) and I'm hoping to get to Brooklyn to check out the Alicia Key + Swizz Beats exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum before it ends (July 7th), a trip or 2 with the hubs and hopefully a few day trips where I can get to a body of water (even just a pool) and relax. This year, we didn't take a February trip and it didn't hit me until April that those winter trips help that stretch between New Year's Day and Memorial Day. By April/early May, I felt myself getting more and more irritable and aggravated each work day for the smallest things. I mentioned this before, but please take your PTO!

Forecasters are predicting a hot summer and I'm confused because we basically skipped spring. And spring is like a very important season- it's my transition season and it just did not happen. This June heatwave is fierce. ☀️ Take care of yourself and check-in on the elders in your community/family- seriously, call them and see if they need anything. If you live near a community fridge, drop off some water, fruit or ice pops.
  • Wear Sunscreen
  • Drinks lots of fluids- especially water
  • Reduce wearing dark colored clothing
  • Add a slice of lemon in your h20 for added electrolytes
I'll be back next month with the senior corner more wellness information  and maybe my garden will be picturesque by then.

 Wellness Corner

Financial Wellness: A financial therapist discusses the link between mental health and financial well being. 1 takeaway- don't have shame around money- taking about it, what you know or don't know, and where you are on your journey.

Physical Wellness: One discussion I keep seeing on IG (and it's on TikTok) is about increasing your protein intake. Personally, I'm not on board with this, you don't need to triple your protein intake and most likely, you're getting enough with what you're eating/drinking currently. Science Vs- a podcast that gives facts/science for all types of fads, trends, etc takes on Protein. It's about 30 mins and good info. Take a listen. After you listen, make your own decision based on facts, not reels or how someone looks.

Occupational: I'm not an early adopter to AI. I've listened to podcasts, I've heard how people generally enjoy adding AI features into their lives and it seems great but I'm not there. One thing I'd like to do this summer is to play around with free AI tools. Here are 2 resources that I'll be using and if you're an AI user, what do you use and how do you use AI? " 📰 I spent a week using AI and LinkedIn visual post about the best AI tools for non-profits (probably helpful for entrepreneurs as well) Find that below.

Remember:
Wellness includes physical, occupational, social, financial, mental/emotional, spiritual and creative health. It's all about balance!
