Where: 7 Greene Ave., Fort Greene, Brooklyn Set in the old No. 7 spot, tucked behind the C Train entrance at Lafayette Avenue. What: Wood-fired, Mediterranean meets Mexico City fantasticness. - Why here?: Dry-aged, fish-focused, bold flavors in an aesthetically satisfying setting. Big, bold flavors and odes to its sister restaurant, Miss Ada, just produce winners. The breads are eyebrow-raisers (the great kind). And then the charred vegetables, crispy fish, and meticulous cocktail options (including my favorite, the Namu Namu Martini - gin, Manzanilla sherry, and caperberry with a sidecar!!) It has "sit stickiness"…you'll feel stuck here in the best kind of way.

- Design: Rounded, curvy, sumptuous, organic elements, aged plaster, warm yellow lighting, blessed by the massive skylight in the back portion of the dining room, which pours in natural light. The open fire and custom millwork soften the backdrop. My favorite table is in the front of the restaurant, with massive street-facing windows, where you're set between the buzzing streets outside and the warm serenity inside.

- Longevity of Sit: A 1.5-hour dinner or a long 4-hour, 12-course dinner with drinks and dessert.
- What you'll hear: Conversations about how prices per square foot in Fort Greene have skyrocketed over the past three years, or why “Downtown Brooklyn just needs time,” bartenders who know their stuff but get straight to business (they are busy), and João Gilberto doing his thing.
