The day that changed my life…
And it all started on a treadmill.

This is the story of how I found the love of my life.

You may already know it... but it's one of my favorites, so please let me tell it again? 🥹

This is the story of how Studio Alexia was created — thanks to a hot girl walk and the best brand design course ever made.

Let me set the scene:

One random afternoon in May of 2021, I decided to go for a walk on my treadmill. Fun fact about me: I can't listen to music when I walk or run, or else I'll get super distracted by the music and end up tripping over my own feet because I tried to dance to the beat. Anyone else? …No? 🥲

Anyways! I decided I would find an interesting podcast to listen to. The thing is, I wasn't a huge podcast girl at this time, so I didn't really know where to start.

I had been thinking about my future a lot in that season, and didn't really know what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Any college student can definitely probably relate to having one of these existential crises once a week every now and then. I've always loved design (thanks, high school yearbook!), so I just looked up “design” in the Spotify search bar and scrolled through the hits under the podcast category.

As I scrolled, I came across a podcast called The Design Diaries with a cover that drew me right in. When I learned that the podcast was essentially meant for creatives and business owners to find their place in the design industry, I was sold. I pressed play ▶️ on the first episode and got to walking.

It turns out, the host of the podcast, Alyssa of ATNN Design, had a very similar story to my own. Like, close enough that I was considering DMing her and asking if she wanted to be besties. You know when the vibes are just right? I ended up following her on Instagram to learn more about her and her design studio.

Little did I know… a month later, my life would be changed forever.

Fast forward ⏩ two weeks, where I'm casually scrolling through Instagram.

Alyssa had posted about something called Designers' Summer Camp, which was starting up in July. I didn't know what brand design even was (like, I had never even heard of it, ever) but I was immediately in. Something clicked in my heart and I just knew this was what I had been looking for.

I told all my besties about it and asked what they thought. And of course, it was a resounding “go for it.” I even made a plan to DoorDash for a few months just to make sure I could afford the investment. Because I knew this would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and potentially the answer to the dreaded “where do I want to be in 5 years?” question.

Once-in-a-lifetime, indeed. When I say that enrolling in Camp was the best decision I ever made, I am not at all exaggerating — though I am known to be a pretty dramatic gal. 💅🏻

In just a few months, I went from having literally zero knowledge of brand design to having a mini portfolio of brand identities ready-to-post on Instagram — not to mention the confidence that this new freelance life would be exactly what I was dreaming of.

And here I am, three years later, with a sustainable business that I've built from the ground up… and I love it with all my heart. 🤍

If you're following the timeline (I hope I haven't lost you!)…
  • I found Alyssa's podcast in May of 2021,
  • started Camp that July where I learned everything I needed to feel confident in freelancing,
  • started officially calling Studio Alexia a brand design studio in September,
  • miraculously, I got my first brand identity client one month later,
  • and I've been growing and learning ever since.
I've almost been at this for 3 years now, and they have truly been the sweetest, most-aligned years of my life.

Now, here's where this story involves you.

Every year, Alyssa opens up Camp for new enrollments. And this year, it's better than ever, with a brand new curriculum — with the same mission of lowering the barrier to entry for brand designers in a judgment free environment.

It includes 5 Design Modules + 1 Design Business Module, $1140 worth of templates and workshops, unlimited 1:1 mentorship, weekly live workshops, IRL practice briefs, and more.

It's perfect for newbie designers (like 2021 me!), creatives in other disciplines, aspiring brand designers, current designers looking to improve their skills and business, or anyone who has that heart sparkle and wants to explore what could be the perfect fit for them.

Speaking from experience, of course. 😌

Enrollment begins May 23rd (today!) and ends June 6th, and you can even take this quiz (Cosmo style!) to see if Camp is the right fit for you. We believe in informed decisions around here!

If you know me, you know that I seriously believe in Camp. I owe my livelihood to it, after all! Which is why I'm so excited to be an affiliate for another year and provide you with any information you need to get started with this life-changing opportunity.

Let me know if you have any questions. You know I liveeee to answer them!

P.S. — If you use my affiliate links to sign up for Camp, we might just be bunkmates 😉🏕️
See ya for s'mores?
