Art Inspirations and DC Happenings
May is a busy month! With graduations, end of year recitals, concerts, and sports tournaments, there are a lot of happy events to attend. There are also tons of fun art happenings right now in our area. Here's a round-up of what's giving me all the inspiration this month. And if you need even more art goodness in your life, don't forget to check out my client portfolio page for more interior design ideas!

Bloom Where You Are Planted is a juried group show featuring the work of 25 female artists. The theme reminds us that spring is a season of renewal and rebirth. Girls Who Paint is located at 10419 Fawcett St. Kensington, MD. Can't make it in person? You can also shop the art on-line.  The show runs through July 19 (check gallery hours HERE).

I am just loving these delectable ceramic treats! These 3 dimensional sculptures can be purchased individually and hang right on your wall. Create a custom display that fits your space perfectly. My client and I picked out these 6 for her kitchen. Can't wait for install day!

The Arts Council of the National United Methodist Church Presents Pigments of the Imagination: Paintings by Maria-Victoria Checa. I haven't been to this yet, but I hope to stop by! The show is located in the Great Hall Metropolitan Memorial Campus at 3401 Nebraska Ave NW. Gallery visits are arranged by appointment (call 202-363-4900). Check out this LHAC client project that features 3 gorgeous paintings by Checa.

There is still time to see Bonnard's Worlds at The Phillips Collection! I haven't been yet, but I am going to make it. “Bonnard’s Worlds, the first major retrospective of Pierre Bonnard’s work at The Phillips Collection in 20 years, explores the sensory spheres of experience that fueled the French artist’s creative practice.” The show is up through June 2.

Turtles on Sand by Josh Brown recently received gorgeous custom framing. After sourcing this original painting for my client, I recommended a framing design that features two mouldings. The inner frame pulls in the wall color and adds a hint of texture, while the outer frame adds polish and sophistication with its soft metallic finish. So thrilled with this art acquisition and custom framing look for my client!

Free and open to the public, the spring pop-up market is a celebration of art, culture, and community. Get ready for a weekend filled with creativity and local talent featuring 75 artisans and makers from the DMV. This event will be located along Bethesda and Woodmont Avenues and runs from 11AM-6PM Saturday and Sunday. One of my favorite DC area artists, known locally as Glitter Enthusiast, will be there selling prints and live painting at the event!

Have you been to any amazing art shows or events recently? I want to hear from you! Send me an email at lh.fineartconsultant@gmail.com and let me know what should be on my radar this summer!

As always, thanks for being here! The greater DC area has an amazing arts community that I love being a part of. If you know anyone who might like this newsletter, be sure to forward it along and have them sign up so that they don't miss out on all the good art inspiration to come!

Best, Lauren Heller
