It’s all downhill (or maybe it’s uphill?) from here.

I know you know how important stories are to your overall Instagram strategy, First name. I also know that it’s really easy to get content creator’s block when you have to show up and do it every week.

And that’s why I’m giving you a whole bunch of story prompts! Save them, share them, use them. Let’s go:

Behind-the-scenes:

Your audience wants to be along for the ride, not late to the party. What seems boring and mundane to you is interesting to a potential client or customer. They want to see how it all goes down, what kind of person you are, and how you think about your work.
  1. What do you do to start each workday? Do you have any habits or routines? Share a photo or video to illustrate these and talk/write about why you do it this way, what it means to you, or how long you’ve been doing it.
  2. What task or part of your workday are you always excited for? Why do you love it? How does it help you/your business/your clients?
  3. What task or part of your workday are always least excited for? Why? Why do you keep doing it? Are there any ways you’re thinking about improving this task?
Education and insight:

Teach your audience something about your industry, niche, or specific approach to your work that will help them take action in their own lives or reframe a false belief. Not only is this type of content helpful, it also shows how you’re different from other people in your industry and helps to establish your authority in the space.
  1. What currently in your business are you doubling down on? Why? How does it help you business? How does it help your clients?
  2. What is something your audience thinks they have to do in order to solve their problem, but you know isn’t actually true? How can you bust this myth?
  3. What do people get wrong about the work you do? What do you wish they knew? How can that help them see the value in your work?
Engagement:

Stories that encourage engagement help to build connections with your audience and get real conversations started. They’re a great way to learn about your audience, too – what they like, what they want, and what they need. This way, you can deliver content and offers that really resonate with them.
  1. Share 3 recent pieces of work, along with some background on each project. Ask your audience to vote for their favourite one.
  2. Directly ask your audience what they want to see more of from you or from people in your industry. This can be a poll or a question box. Share the results and show that you understand where they’re coming from!
  3. Ask your audience to give ideas for or vote for a name for your upcoming offer.
Before and After:

These stories built trust in your process, your work, and your experience. They also serve as inspiration for what’s possible for your audience. They’ll be able to see themselves in the transformation you’re sharing, making investing with you way more likely.
  1. Share about an experience with a client. How did they feel before working with you? What changed for them as a result of your work? How did they feel afterwards?
  2. Compare a first draft or initial sketch with the final product. Share how you got from a to b, or describe what the client/customer was looking for.
  3. Share about where you were when you started your business vs. now. What was your business like? How did it feel? What’s different now, and what helped you get here?
I hope these have your wheels turning with fun and strategic story ideas.

When you show up consistently in your stories, your audience gets to know, like, and trust you. And, you’ll be top of mind for them when it’s time to make a purchase.

Remember: It’s not cringe – it’s content.

See you in your stories!
