How many of you are feeling stuck right now? Whether it’s in your work or personal life, sometimes it can feel like you’re just running in place and success is just some distant, blurry destination that is way out there on the horizon. If you feel that way, trust me, you’re not alone.
Everyone has moments when they feel like they’re on the edge of giving up.
But here is the reality: giving up is the only sure way to fail.
I’m sure a lot of you have heard of that famous quote about missing 100% of the shots you don’t take in life. The phrase gets overused, but the point is relevant. When you stop trying to shoot your shot, the only thing that is guaranteed is failure.
Now, some people do get lucky. It happens. Maybe you know someone like that? Maybe that someone is you? If so, congrats. Be grateful because luck is unsustainable and is never guaranteed to anyone.
There is another popular phrase that says, good luck many times comes disguised as hard work. Think about people you know who seem to be luckier than others. When you look closely, you notice that these people are hard workers, aren’t they?
That being said, if you think success is just about being lucky or just being at the right place at the right time, you couldn’t be more wrong.
Success is not a flash in the pan. Success is about grit and the courage to keep going, even when it seems like everything is working against you. It’s about not having all the answers but moving forward anyway. It’s also about taking ownership of your journey, no matter how hard it gets.
And that is where a lot of people get stuck. So many people aren’t prepared to work hard yet expect immediate applause whenever they try something. These same people won’t put their best effort out there unless they get constant pats on the back.
That shit doesn’t work.
If you’re feeling down, or like you’re not going anywhere, remember, you’re just one win away from turning it all around. That win might not come today or tomorrow, but if you keep pushing, learning, and evolving, you’ll find it. And I promise you, it’s a lot closer than you think.
One point I want you to take away from this is that success isn’t a straight line. It’s an unpredictable ride, but it’s worth it.
The other point I want you to take away is that when I talk about resilience, it’s not just a buzzword – it really is the backbone of success. To put it technically, resilience is a reactive state of mind created by exposure to suffering. Simply put, it’s your ability to bounce back from losses while maintaining your motivation.
Now, let’s pivot and talk about losing for a second.
Nobody likes to lose. It stings, it sucks, and it bruises the ego. But it does more than that, it teaches you lessons.
And let me stress, I am not telling you to be okay with losing, I’m telling you that you need to understand what losing teaches you. Every single loss is a lesson in disguise. But the key is recognizing and listening to the feedback that failure provides, and then use it to make adjustments and try again.
You’re Not Quitting, Are You?
Now that it’s on your mind, how many of you right now are thinking about how much you fucking hate losing?
Good. You should.
When you feel that rush of frustration when things don’t go right, channel it. Resilience is not about never feeling down. People who are resilient still get frustrated and upset, but they don’t let that be the end of it. When the job gets too tough, or the task at hand seems impossible, it’s okay to not be happy about it, but it’s also about knowing how to adjust and push past obstacles.
Each of us is facing our own battles, but the one common denominator for all of us is that resilience the key to winning. But if you lose, you cannot shy away from the hard questions afterwards. You need to ask yourself (and be totally honest with yourself) why you failed. You also need to ask yourself what you can do better next time.
And more important than all of that, ask yourself if you’re really doing what you love.
If you are, then that frustration and pain you feel after a loss should fuel your desire to succeed. This is what will lead you to your next big win – the win that changes everything. For me, I love producing content, but when I first started, I didn’t understand everything that went into it, and it showed. I loved what I was doing, but something just wasn’t clicking. So, I adjusted, changed things around, kept going, and got that win that changed everything for me.
And this is exactly what I want for all of you too. There is plenty of room in this world for a collection of successful, motivated individuals.
developing resiliency
Now, I’ve talked a lot about resilience, but not how to develop it. I want you to understand that resilience is more than just getting back up after a loss. Anyone can do that. Resilience is a skill that is built through mindfulness. It’s the ability to be present in your struggles and learn from each setback, then consciously putting those lessons learned into practice. Think of it as a muscle that need to be exercised.
Now it’s your turn. Share your story of resilience. Tell us all about that time when you faced failure head-on and won. Your story could be the one thing that guides someone else to their big win. And if you’re still chasing that win, you need to find your passion, prepare diligently, then share your goal with this community, and hold yourself accountable.
If you stumble, I’m here. Not just to listen, but to support you. Because that’s what this community is all about: lifting each other up, learning from our losses, and celebrating our wins…together.
