What are you proud of lately?
A fellow social impact leader recently asked me the question, “Can you share one thing you're proud of accomplishing lately?”

I think that in years past my answer would likely have revolved around an external-based affirmation - perhaps something that I received recognition for related to a work goal or other success-driven milestone.

This time, my mind went elsewhere. I was reminded of the commitment I've made to find more time to be present without distraction. This has manifested into going on uninterrupted walks at least five days a week through local parks and nature spaces.

As the spring flowers sprout and the weather is warming up, I've enjoyed wandering and clearing my mind which in turn helps regulate my mind and body whenever I have to return to the workday.

Leadership is often found away from our desks and devices and I'm proud of consistently making space for what I need to do to be my best self!

I talk more about why prioritizing self-care is essential to limiting burnout in the podcast conversation I had with Clark University where I talk about 14-year journey in social impact and my desire to show up as a transformational leader through WordSpark. Check out the episode if you haven't already!
P.S. A fellow consultant in my network, Meena Malik of Magpie Cultural Strategies, is leading free somatic-focused sound meditation sessions throughout the rest of 2024. If you're interested in exploring her practice and joining a future virtual offering, please check out this page to sign up!
