WHERE LEGENDS COME TO LIFE

The Loch Ness Monster, whisky, kilts, and castles. These are the obvious things that come to mind when travelers set their sights on Scotland. But what might you miss (especially if you aren't working with a professional to plan your itinerary) in Scotland if you're only looking for the obvious?

You might miss spectacular hikes, like the 14.9 mile Sgùrr na Strì. You might also miss the eerie sounds that come from Kilt Rock when the wind blows just right. And if you were to miss The Old Man of Storr? Well, that would just be a shame.

If you haven't heard, this July Scotland will be hosting the 152nd Open at Royal Troon and I have had so much fun planning an incredibly special birthday celebration for my husband and father-in-law, where they will be overlooking the infamous “postage stamp” par 3 on their special days. I love my job… I get to provide my clients the luxury of time and experiences to live out their
wildest travel dreams.

This edition of the newsletter features the rugged and picturesque Isle of Skye and some of the most incredible plays to stay in Scotland. If you are one for seeing the incredible beauty of this world, let's take you there.

And, as an extra teaser before you go, watch Outlander

Considering A Trip?
WHEN TO VISIT
Skye experiences a maritime climate with mild winters and cool summers, and can be enjoyed year-round, with each season offering its own charm.
  • High Season (June to August): This is the warmest and driest part of the year, making it ideal for hiking, outdoor sightseeing, and exploring the island's natural beauty. The long daylight hours provide ample time to visit attractions like the Fairy Pools and the Quiraing. However, this period also sees the largest crowds and highest prices, so early booking is essential.
  • Shoulder Season (April to May and September to October): This period offers a balance between favorable weather and fewer tourists. Spring brings blooming wildflowers and vibrant landscapes, while autumn showcases stunning fall colors.
  • Low Season (November to March): The low season on Skye is characterized by cooler temperatures and more frequent rain, but it also offers a peaceful, quiet experience. Winter landscapes can be dramatic and beautiful, making it an excellent time for photographers. While some attractions and accommodations may have reduced hours or be closed, you'll enjoy a more intimate and serene visit.

Itinerary Highlights
EXPERIENCES OF SKYE
THE BIRTHPLACE OF GOLF

Play the same fairways as some of the most most notable golfers in the world. The PGA Centenary Course at The Gleneagles Hotel (about an hour from both Edinburgh and Glasgow) should be on the bucket list of any avid player. These Scottish links were originally designed by Jack Nicklaus and has been host to the Ryder Cup.
FAIRY POOLS

The Fairy Pools are a series of crystal-clear, naturally formed pools and waterfalls located near Glenbrittle. Visitors can hike along the well-marked trail to explore these enchanting pools, which are perfect for photography and even a refreshing, albeit chilly, swim. The surrounding landscape, with its striking views of the Cuillin mountains, adds to the magical atmosphere of this must-see destination.
DUNVEGAN CASTLE

Dunvegan Castle is the oldest continuously inhabited castle in Scotland. Visitors can explore the castle's rich history through its well-preserved rooms, filled with treasures and historical artifacts. The beautiful gardens surrounding the castle and boat trips to see the local seal colony make for a well-rounded cultural and natural experience.
TALISKER DISTILLERY

Experience the rich flavors of Scottish whisky with a tasting session at the Talisker Distillery, located on the shores of Loch Harport and founded in 1830. As the oldest working distillery on the Isle of Skye, Talisker offers guided tours that allow visitors to explore the whisky-making process, from malting to maturation, and enjoy sampling a range of their distinctive single malts.
