Dear First name,

How are you doing? My goodness, I have so much I want to share with you this week…

I've spent the last few weeks working on a major website ‘glow up’ for a wonderful interior designer. I've been working on a series of brand films; styling and and art directing photography; writing content; designing, illustrating and collaborating with some exceptionally talented people. It's been amazing! I can't wait to show you what we've been up to and the difference it's made! It's truly life affirming…

More on that soon, but right now, back to you. This week I'd love for us to explore how much of a difference branding can really make to your business. I mean, we all know it can make you look more professional, feel a little less embarrassed, but does branding actually have an impact on your bottom line? We're exploring all of this and more below!

Before we get to that… This week's Open House sold out within moments, so after many requests for another date, I've added one last one before the Autumn. There are currently 2 spots left on the 5 July Open House if you'd like to join us? Do be quick though as this really will be my last one before September…

Have a great week and do let me know if this week's case study (below) sparks any questions?

Let's get real… is branding just about aesthetics? or can it have an impact on your bottom line?

I honestly can't think of a better way of us exploring this question than with one of my lovely clients, Kari, a pilates teacher based in my neck of the woods in Surrey.

Here's our starting point. Like many small business owners, branding wasn't a top priority for Kari. For many years, this DIY logo was something she really didn't give much thought to, but then things changed and she started to wonder whether getting her branding in shape might actually have an impact on her business.

Here's what happened…

Kari is an excellent pilates teacher - but you wouldn't know that from the impact her brand and old website creates. She is highly trained, her classes are expertly planned and she works incredibly hard to make sure her clients have fun and work hard.

Do you get any of that from the logo above? Thought not…

So here's what we did with it. Simple, strong and highly effective, it not only creates a great positive impression, it also works at a strategic level for Kari, helping her own her space and win more of the right clients.

A curated colour palette balances the uplifting and fun elements of Kari's teaching along with the strength pilates brings to your body and the depth of Kari's expertise.

We also elevated the status of Kari by giving her an option with her name - this is especially poignant as she builds her online offering, allowing her to build on her expert status and really capitalise on those years of training, practice and learning!

You can see this all looks nicer. You can probably see that Kari will feel prouder to talk about her business, more confident to put herself out there and not remotely embarrassed by her brand. But the real question: has this actually had an impact on her bottom line?

Purse strings are tight right now and it is so tempting to think that branding is an area to cut back on. After all, how much of an impact can it really make? Quite a lot, as it turns out! I asked Kari what impact her brand had on her business last Friday and whether it had all been worth it. It was an emphatic YES.

Her enquiry rate increased dramatically

People were prepared to travel from further afield to take Kari's classes: because she looked more credible her market reach increased

Private lessons filled faster

She started attracting a younger crowd - broadening her demographic and widening her potential client base

Her group classes started selling out!
