On June 7th the Access-Ability Summer Showcase took place shinning a spotlight on some amazing accessible games coming to a storefront near you! This event is put on by the illustrious Laura K Buzz who also announced another showcase in the winter.
We can't wait!

A particular game of note from the showcase was Dawnfolk, a miniature survival city builder about bringing light back to the world. The game supports a range of controller types and by design has great contrast for menus and game tiles. It also hosts a narrator that will read out what tiles are in your city which we think is really exceptional!

Back in April the Games Accessibility Conference had its European edition
(#GAconf EU 2024) filled with juicy talks and panels. Some of our very own PlayAbilty team took part in a panel covering barriers faced to online multiplayer games.
Another presentation we found particularly insightful was Cari Watterton’s talk Weaving Accessibility into Workflows. The talk is a great watch for game developers who may be looking for data points to help sway key decision makers into prioritizing accessibility.

Finally with heavy hearts we wanted to acknowledge the passing of Brandon Cole. Brandon was the first team member that came on board when PlayAbility was still just an idea. He was always willing to share his knowledge and was quick with a joke when our meetings got too stuffy. His legacy will always be that of one of the brightest stars in accessibility.

If you are able to financially assist Misty, Brandon’s fiance here is a link.

Its in these tough moments that we can use the reminder to tell the people closest to us we care about them. And maybe even spend some time playing a wonderful accessible games together.
