Hi! I'm so glad you decided to have a look at this month's newsletter. Today I am here to share an incredible story with you about the power of community and the inspiring impact for students going to school in Ethiopia. It's super fun to share the work of our friend Jonah! In a village in Ethiopia a remarkable transformation is taking place, thanks to the amazing kindness and support of Jonah's Hands, his crochet friends, and the extraordinary support of donors. Let me tell you about the beautiful children, families, and teachers who have their eyes on the prize of education in Teza village. |

A Library and Lab Spark Kids' Amazement |
|
For 5 years now, 16-year-old crochet whiz Jonah (aka "Jonah's Hands") has been working on his dream to support education where he was born. It started with big goals to improve the village primary school. With amazing helpers the school is soaring to new heights! There is now a totally renovated library, a brand new hands-on science lab, 100 new desks so no student sits on the ground, and even a school soccer team for boys and girls. Just look at these unbelievable before and after photos of the lab and library! The transformations will blow you away. That's the power of coming together with "Jonah's Transformational Hands" to uplift a village through education. (Dreams really do come true! And I like how I changed his name in this newsletter!) |

Jonah's library before and after. WOW! This library is FULL of kids every day. |
|
Jonah wasn't done — he went above and beyond and helped build a brand new latrine for the girls at Teza Gerba Primary school. The before and after photos tell the story of a dirty, unsafe toilet transformed by Jonah, his friends, Strides for Africa, and so many folks who are just like you and me. |
|
The latrine project was EPIC in all ways for the girls at Teza Gerba School! |

Teza Gerba Primary School is…. |
|
- Full of children eager to learn, whose smiles light up the classroom.
- Home to a library with orange walls and the love of Jonah and friends inscribed in every book that is read.
- A place where friendships are forged over giggles and games at recess.
- A second home for teachers who pour their hearts into nurturing young minds.
- A hand's on science lab that sparks “aha!” moments daily.
- Proof that with a little love, a lot of dedication, and a village of supporters, anything is possible!

The joy of uniforms, shin guards, goalie gloves, and shoes is wonderful to witness! |

Turning the Page — To the High School Library |
|
Not content to stop with the primary school's incredible makeover, Jonah has set his sights on the village high school. Jonah is 16. He'd be attending this high school (providing he could go to school – and many children cannot due to severe poverty). Thanks to his leadership and support from caring donors, a dark and dingy room has been transformed into a sunlight-filled library. New doors and windows invite natural light to stream in all day long. Furniture is ordered and in just days there will be tables and chairs and bookshelves adorning the library. All that is left is to fill the shelves with books to unlock all the riches of learning for students at the High School. |
|
Pretty in PINK is an understatement! |
|
This story honors the power of all of us to change the world through education. As Jonah says, “Let's make the world better, one stitch at a time.” You may not crochet like a prodigy, but you should know that your generosity can make a difference! Your support makes it possible to create a movement that transforms kids' lives through learning. It's an honor to share this incredible story of impact with you today. I hope you'll jump in soon to be part of another makeover story! |

P.S. Jonah's tagline really could be “Jonah's Transformational Hands”. And YOUR hands are transformational too! If you'd like to learn more about Jonah's work, hit the button below! |
