Hi First name / Friend

How do you feel when sharing your quilts with others? It can be scary to step out and show your creative work. Will others like it? Will they understand it? Or, does it only matter that you've been true to yourself?

Michele says, “Always nervous with quilters and muggles, alike. I still share most of my makes despite this nervousness, but I always make sure my joy comes through so as to not leave room for anyone's negativity.”

Randi says, “I don't mind sharing my work with other quilters—they understand the feeling of accomplishment. Sometimes non quilters don't "get" improv and so sharing my hard work can be awkward. But usually friends will make a nice comment even if the quilt is a little wild for their taste.”

Nancy says, “To be honest I really love to share my work. Okay I said it. I will qualify my answer by also saying there is always some anxiety I feel in doing so, but deep down I want to be seen by others.”

Ah yes! to be seen by others. Take a brave step and share your work: in a quilt show, in an exhibit or post it inside our community to show your accomplishment with joy and you will be seen by others!

Take a peek at all that's going on inside BP this month below.

At this month's Groove Time members will gather to share with each other. What is your favorite quilting TOOL? What are your go-to TIPS? What's an awesome TRICK that you've learned to enhance your quilts? Let's continue to share our expertise with others on our journey of #MemberMentoring.

👉 Everybody: think about a quilting tool, tip or trick that you have learned and can share with others. You can bring more than one.
You may want to prep photos, props or documents ahead of time in order to share with us. You'll be able to share your screen during the zoom meeting, or you may create a post that I can share on your behalf during the meeting (tag it with #ToolsTipsAndTricks)

BravePatch Member Naomi van den Broek has two quilts in an exhibit called Women's Work in New Zealand through June 30. Of Mile Markers, Naomi says, “Unplanned relationships between the individual fabrics create dynamic and unexpected patterns within each square, as does the sashing which surrounds them. This keeps the viewer’s eye moving around the quilt.” Read more

BravePatcher Jan Luca entered Date Night Blues into The Great Wisconsin Modern Mini Quilt Contes. She says, “I still consider myself 'new' to improv, so when this piece flowed, I was surprised and very satisfied!! I was able to use an old pair of jeans and stash fabric; even for the back. I've been listening to a lot of blues lately and I think I channeled some into this piece."

BravePatcher Victoria Nelson was “Tickled that my modern block improv from workshop with Sherri Lynn in 2022 received a ribbon in the Arizona Quilters Guild show. It was entered in the Hand Quilted category (what!?!?) as these last two years I have put some of my time into learning to hand quilt after years of almost all machine quilting.”

BravePatch Member and mental health therapist Cora Drew has a submission accepted into the Cherrywood 2024 Challenge. This year's theme is poppy and Cora interpreted poppies into a message about the struggles of opiate addiction. Powerful message!
