Who else loves the Smooth tool? I was working on an alphabet file over the weekend and was reminded yet again that I'm terrible at free-handing letters. But thanks to the Smooth tool, you'd think I was a pro! This tool reduces your anchor points, making the lasering process faster and giving your hand-drawn designs a more polished look. Just select your object and use the smooth tool to “draw” over the parts you want to even out. |

You can find the Smooth tool under the Pencil tool, or if you'd like to smooth your entire design at once, you can use the slider bar under Object > Path > Smooth. In Inkscape, a similar result can be achieved using the Smooth Path effect. Tip: Want to create more scoring files but don't feel like your drawing skills are up to par? Use the smooth tool on your single line designs and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised! |
