NOON - 1:30

Fairgate Farm
129 Stillwater Avenue
Stamford, 06902

Food Rescue-Fairfield County, Waste Free Greenwich, Fairgate Farm and Foodshed are planning a tour for Greenwich Food Alliance's July meeting.

Fairgate Farm in Stamford is food justice in action, an oasis of cross-pollination, powered by a hive of community volunteers, is an integration of all our respective initiatives. You do not want to miss this opportunity!

We will meet Farm Manager Pete Novajosky and Assistant Farm Manager Liz Wimpfheimer and learn about the food they grow for the community, ‘pay what you can’ farmers market, food scrap recycling (collected street side) and how they are providing food access in what is otherwise a food desert.

Feel free to extend this invitation to anyone you think would be interested in joining us. Kindly RSVP to ali@thefoodshednetwork.org.

FOOD & NUTRITION POLICY ANALYST

UPDATE

Hi All,

I hope you are doing well! I am sending this email because one of my required tasks is to put together a database of food organizations in Connecticut. The goal of this project is to connect organizations to each other, to the public, and to policymakers. In order to do this, I've put together an opt-in form to share with organizations across the state!

I've included all of the critical information below and attached a word-doc flier with the same in case it would be helpful to download or print out!

Action Needed:

Take 5-10 minutes to fill out this form (click the link or scan the attached QR code - see below)

Forward this form and information to others in your network!!! (the more responses, the better! Find all this information HERE + download)

Who Should Fill Out the Form?

Farmers, Grocers, Food banks and pantries, nonprofits, mutual aid, restaurants, food hubs, and any other company or organization that produces, provides, sells, or works with food!

What Will the Information Be Used For?

A database of food organizations in the state and a short survey of needs and priorities whose findings will be included in a report on food security in CT. The form allows you to opt in or out of a public-facing database and one to be shared with other organizations and policymakers only.

Why use this form?
The Commission is hoping to use the form to provide several benefits to organizations after they complete it:

  1. Data sharing: the data generated by section 3 of this form will be made available to everyone (email Christian.duborg@cga.ct.gov if you need data before it is published), and can be used for websites, grant applications, etc.
  2. Updates: This database will be used as a mailing list to share important information (events, policy updates, grant opportunities, data, etc.)
  3. Connections: Once it is complete, the database will be available to all organizations who fill out the form, allowing you to connect with other organizations across the state. If you give permission in the form, you’ll also be included in the public-facing version so people can more easily find you!
  4. Sharing Needs with Policymakers: the needs and priorities identified in section 3 will be featured in the Commission’s annual report on food security and will inform the Commission’s work on food and nutrition items in the state legislature.
If you would be willing to complete form on behalf of your organization and share it with others it would be incredibly helpful to the Commission's food policy work! If you have any questions, suggestions, or problems please don't hesitate to reach out! Even if you don't believe your organization is included in this groups sharing it with others would be invaluable!

Best Regards,
Christian
