Hi, it's my turn on the Summer Block Party! 🎉 

I’m Jen Belnap and I run The Smitten Chicken. I live outside of Houston, Texas 🤠 with my husband and six kids. With a large family and a husband who works a lot of hours, I found quilting to be my creative outlet. Sewing is my sanity! I love the design process and enjoy creating new patterns. I don’t have a lot of time to sew, so my patterns are quick and easy! 

I also love the wonderful creative people I have met along this journey. I have had the opportunity to work with amazing people in the quilting industry like these fun design friends bringing you our Summer Block Party! You may recognize my Baby Alma Quilt Pattern. Jenny Doan featured it on the Missouri Star YouTube Channel! Hanging out with quilting friends is the best! 

When I’m not sewing, you will find me planning our next family trip or adventure. We take a quilt with us and take unique and fun quilt pics of the places we travel. Our family motto is “make beautiful memories.” And we try to do just that!

I used to live on the east coast with my family. We traveled up and down the east coast exploring and always found lighthouses! When I think of summer, I think of trips to the beach and lighthouses to explore. So I had to design a lighthouse block! This block comes together fast and I think you will love it!
