Understanding the Difference Between Outputs and Outcomes

"You will often hear me say that we outsource our most difficult social issues to nonprofits, and they are under-resourced to solve them. That doesn’t mean good work isn’t happening in the community, but are things getting better?

To be fair, not all nonprofits are set up to solve community problems. Many organizations focus on meeting people where they are and helping with basic needs such as food, shelter, and clothing.

There are others entrenched in finding solutions. The question is, how are we tracking and measuring how funds are used, and whether or not they did what they were intended to do?"

Nonprofit Search will have an updated look and new features this summer! To share all about this exciting milestone for NPS and how this will affect your nonprofit profile, join us for a virtual Ask Us Anything meeting on Wednesday, June 26th, from 10-11 AM.

Important Date: Nonprofit profiles will not be able to be updated after June 30th until we are fully migrated to the updated Nonprofit Search. While updates won't be able to be made after this date, your profile will remain live.

While we will be working to migrate your profile's data to the new Nonprofit Search, it's always a good idea to have your profile's information on file for your own records. To do this, simple visit your organization's Nonprofit Search profile and click “Download Full Profile.” You do not need to be logged in to your account to download your profile.

Think-A-Thon Applications Now Open
In 2014, we wanted to find a way to give back to the Central Florida nonprofits that do so much for our community. It’s why we created Think-A-Thon, a service initiative that provides one local nonprofit with 26.2 hours of free marketing, branding and creative services–an $80K value. If your nonprofit needs full-service strategic, creative and marketing support — all for free — apply now for a chance to be our next Think-A-Thon recipient.

Florida Humanities Grant Opportunities
Since 1973, Florida Humanities has awarded more than $20 million in federal funding statewide in support of the development and presentation of humanities-rich cultural resources and public programs. These projects help preserve Florida’s rich history and heritage, promote civic engagement and community dialogue, and provide opportunities for reflecting on the future of our state.
Whether you are a long-time applicant or an organization newly discovering Florida Humanities, we encourage you to explore our current funding opportunities listed below and reach out to staff with any questions.

VOICES of Black Women: Cancer Research Study
Led by the American Cancer Society and powered by the voices of Black women across the US, a new study is being conducted named VOICES of Black Women. The goal is life-changing: to better understand health conditions like cancer and improve overall health among Black women. With the enrollment of at least 100,000 women over the next few years, this goal is achieved as a collective. It starts with you, but it flourishes with us.

Who can join?
Black women between the ages of 25 and 55 with no history of cancer (except basal or squamous skin cancer) and also live in one of our study enrollment states (includes Florida)

Learn about what is involved and more by visiting the VOICES website here.
