As a a cancer (July 9) I'm especially drawn to making my spaces as comfortable and calm as possible. And with the summer season kicking into high gear, now is the perfect time to refresh and reorganize your home to achieve that crabby nesting goodness.
Here are our Top Tips to help you start July right with a more organized living space:
02 Mise en Place
Pronounced “meez-ahn-plahs," this basically means a place for everything and everything in its place. But because I wish I was French, I like to think of this step in French as if I were French. Yes, I'm bougie like that.
Anyway…when every item has a designated spot it is easier to find what you need and helps keep your home neat and organized.
Use labeled bins, baskets, and containers to keep similar items together.
03 Daily Habits
Whether you are coming home from work, the beach, errands, or a night out, take 5-minutes to put shoes, keys, wallet, mail, or paperwork in their designated spot.
Then, empty your bag of trash, snacks, sand, or loose change. This prevents clutter from accumulating and keeps your home looking its best without feeling overwhelming.
Noah is currently obsessed with putting things away - her shoes, books, potty, you name it. Maybe it's an apple-and-the-tree situation or just the 2 yo way of creating control and order…
Either way, what I'm trying to say is even a BABY can do this :)
So encourage your partner to get in the habit of staying organized and assign age-appropriate tasks to your kids. This will go a long way both in alleviating your own stress and distributing responsibility between all family members.
