AgKnow urgently needs your financial assistance to bridge a critical funding gap between our last grant and the anticipated funding for our next one. This inconsistency in funding jeopardizes our ability to provide continuous support to farm families year-round as they cope with the daily challenges of farm life and navigate times of crisis.

 

Your contributions will sustain the ongoing delivery of services including the Free Counselling Pilot Program, Suicide Prevention Training, and Crisis Recovery Support. We are deeply grateful to ATB Financial, Wheatland County, Sandbox Insurance, Saddle Hills County, County of Newell, Paintearth County, and Mutual Fire Insurance for donating bridge funding and hope that you will consider doing the same. Together, we can continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Alberta’s farmers, and the rural communities they support.

Our current Free Therapy Program covers up to four free counselling sessions for farmers, their families, farm employees, veterinarians and registered veterinarian technicians.

June is Pride Month! Visibility for 2SLGBTQ+ farmers is slowly increasing, thanks to the efforts of producers like Stuart Chutter, who operates a purebred beef and regenerative farming operation south of Melville, SK. As an openly gay farmer, Chutter is challenging the typical farmer stereotypes.

 

“I think we have to become leaders in creating inclusion in agriculture and belonging where diversity is visible. Not only because it’s the right way to treat each other but also to fill labor gaps and to support farmers who might not see themselves in traditional agriculture roles.”
