June Prompt 2 Check-In
WANDERLUST
Here are a few more ideas and starting points for wanderlust:
  • Will you be taking a trip this summer? No matter how long / short it is, dedicate a page to your travels! Collect receipts, postcards, labels, napkins, brochures, maps, leaves or flowers, and other items you come across to make a living journal page. And if you don't have any plans, that's OK--you are living life every day and it is worth documenting--journal right now.
  • Make tiny postcards! I think these are so cute and a fun way to use photos you have! Once you're done you can add a clear pocket (by gluing a clear card sleeve onto the page or recycling an envelope with a clear window for the mailing address) to your sketchbook page to keep them in there or find another way to display them.
  • Make a map portrait The example uses a furry friend as a subject but you can do this with a person, flower, anything really! You can also take a looser approach and tear up maps then organically organize them into a shape / image as well as incorporate them into a collage.

WHAT'S UP AHEAD
We are going on a brief summer break! Things will start back up on July 19th for our second 5 week series, the Summer Sketchbook Un-Slump. I am very excited as I have some new warm up exercises and all the prompts lined up ready to share! You will receive one email before the first SSUS prompt is sent out to help ease back into things!

During the break you can: rest, catch up on prompts (that's what I will be doing!), or continue to create. If you need inspiration, revisit past prompts or flip through your sketchbook and see if there's any techniques you want to try again or expand on.

Can you believe we've already been creating together for half the year?! I'm excited to refocus and reset for the second half of the year and kick things off with the un-slump! And if you're curious how the rest of the year will be, here's the calendar for the remaining months:

We will have one more break at the end of the summer after our 5 week series and I'll be planning another snail mail swap for the holidays in November.

Have a good break! If you create any work during this time, feel free to email me or tag me on social media during this time and I will share them in our next check-in email.

Wishing you a great start to your summer!
Talk to you in July,
