Launch the Mixed / Ice Climbing season in a fun way with some dry tooling at radioactive crag with NEIL. Dry-tooling is a form of mixed climbing that is performed on bare, ice-free, and snow-free, routes. As with mixed climbing, we will climb using ice axes and crampons (optional here) to ascend the routes, but will lead or top rope the bolted sport routes for protection.  The layers of shale at Radioactive crag is a great medium for dry tooling.  Note that you must at least have some sport climbing experience to attend this event.

Join KENDAL for an extended loop of the south western section of Paardekraal. We will be visiting the popular attractions of this hike including hole in the wall, buttress gorge and western pools. This hike is for the fit and agile. There are fixed ropes in the kloof to descend on (nothing too technical). We expect to cover about 20km. Meet at Bergheim at 07h30 - the hike starts at 8am sharp. NOTE: MCSA Members: Bergheim fee R50. Non Members: R120 meet fee + Bergheim: R50 + R25 parking

Reservoir Gully experienced severe flooding this year due to a reservoir failure, transforming it into a canyon up to 4 meters deep and wider than before. Visiting in March, we saw heartbreaking devastation above the berm & waterfall, seemingly beyond repair. This outing aims to assess downstream damage, focusing on removing crofton, lantana, and any remaining pompom in their winter hues. Your presence is crucial for our extensive restoration efforts in this fragile ecosystem. Join us at Mooinooi Wimpy at 8 AM for coffee before we convoy to the site.

Join ROGER for some Multi-Pitch sport climbing at Wilgepoort, just an hours drive from Pretoria. The crag is in the picturesque Gouwsberg Valley on the banks of the Wilge River. Whilst appearing to be quite a small crag, it surprises one by having a significant number of high-quality lines of up to 4 solid pitches. The crag is North facing and gets very hot in Summer, making it an excellent Winter crag. The south facing crag has been developed with a few excellent sport climbing lines.

This month's Orientation Hike takes us to one of the most popular day hike destinations: Dome Pools! Come familiarise yourself with the route because you will want to come back here with friends & family. Join LOURENS for the day, or use the opportunity to spend a night in the mountain by camping with us on Saturday night & returning Sunday morning.

Join BENNIE for a practical introduction to Trad climbing. Participants must be proficient in climbing sport routes (outdoor or gym) at grade 18. MCSA members will get preference. The event will happen over the weekend; participants must be available for both days. The clinic will focus on practical gear placement, racking up, anchor building, route finding, and climbing (lead and/or follow). Numbers will be limited, so subscribe early.
