THE JUNE ROUNDUP
Featured Cleanup Site and June Results
Take a deeper dive into our featured cleanup site of the month, Muliwaiʻōlena, and review our stats from the month of June
808 Cleanups is the official steward of Muliwaiʻōlena, a cultural site located in Waimānalo. Volunteers meet every other Monday from 3-5 to remove invasive plants along the coastline, allowing us to reintroduce native plants back into the environment. Learn more about our work and goals, and RSVP to join a cleanup soon.
RESTORATION
Rebuilding the Dunes
Sand dunes provide much needed protection from tidal surges but have been eroded by climate change and invasive species.

NEW GROWTH
Native Plants
Restoring native plants in the area helps capture sand and strengthen the dunes. They also create nesting spaces for native birds.
WORKING TOGETHER
Stewardship
Many different groups are affected by the erosion, and we have several partners who pitch in to care for this special site. We hope one day the coastal sand dunes will be restored to provide natural protection for all.
