Hello First name / friend!

The crisp air of winter and the holidays are here. It is my favorite time of year!

If you are like me I am finalizing the Thanksgiving day menu, figuring out how we will cook the turkey this year …(because I love to try new things, oh there are stories here for another day) and truly getting excited for Christmas. So as we get into the spirit I couldn't think of a better destination to highlight than London. This magnificent city transforms into a magical wonderland complete with the twinkling lights of Christmas markets and festive decorations.

Imagine sipping hot cocoa in a cozy café and watching the world go by through frosted windows. Or, strolling through Hyde Park's Winter Wonderland, where the aroma of mulled wine and roasted chestnuts fills the air. From ice skating at Somerset House to catching a matinee in the West End, London in winter offers a perfect blend of indoor comforts and outdoor adventures.

If a cozy winter getaway sounds like a refreshing retreat, that's your sign to start thinking about your holiday getaway, First name / friend!

This edition of the newsletter has a “Christmas” vibe to it, as we explore London through a cozy winter lens. Pour a cuppa and scroll on!

LONDON
FEATURED DESTINATION
When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life."
SAMUEL JOHNSON
Destination Overview
LONDON, ENGLAND
Picture yourself strolling along the River Thames...

...as the iconic silhouette of Big Ben looms ahead and the London Eye turns slowly against a backdrop of historic architecture and modern skyscrapers. London offers an unparalleled mix of culture, history, and contemporary urban life. From the regal splendor of Buckingham Palace to the avant-garde exhibitions at the Tate Modern, the city's diverse attractions cater to every interest.

History buffs will be in their element, with world-class museums like the British Museum and the Tower of London offering windows into the past. Art lovers can lose themselves in the National Gallery or discover up-and-coming artists in the galleries of Shoreditch.

Beyond the landmarks, London charms with its distinct neighborhoods and abundant green spaces. Wander through the colorful streets of Notting Hill, explore the trendy boutiques of Covent Garden, or enjoy a picnic in Hyde Park. For foodies, Borough Market is a must-visit, offering a wide range of international cuisines and local delicacies.

The city's vibrant theater scene in the West End rivals Broadway, while music lovers can catch world-class performances at venues ranging from the Royal Albert Hall to intimate jazz clubs.

Wondering when to visit?

London is a year-round destination, but the best time to visit depends on your preferences.

Summer (June to August) offers warm weather and long days, perfect for outdoor activities and festivals. However, this is also peak tourist season, with higher prices and larger crowds.

For a more budget-friendly experience with mild weather, consider visiting in Spring (April to May) or autumn (September to October). You'll enjoy smaller crowds and the beauty of parks in bloom or autumn colors.

Winter (November to March) can be chilly and damp, but it's magical during the holiday season with Christmas markets and festive decorations. It's also an excellent time for theater-goers and shoppers looking for post-holiday sales.
Remember, London's weather can be unpredictable, so pack layers regardless of when you visit!
Itinerary Highlights
WINTER IN LONDON
Glide Through History at Somerset House

Experience the magic of winter at Somerset House's spectacular ice rink. Set in the grand 18th-century courtyard, this rink offers a truly enchanting skating experience. By day, glide across the ice under crisp winter skies; by night, skate beneath twinkling lights. After your skating session, warm up with a hot chocolate or mulled wine at the rinkside Skate Lounge, and browse the Christmas arcade for unique gifts.

Southbank Centre Winter Market

Nestled along the River Thames, this charming market transforms the area into a festive wonderland. Stroll through a collection of wooden chalets adorned with twinkling lights, offering an array of handcrafted gifts, artisanal foods, and seasonal treats. Warm your hands around a mug of spiced mulled wine as you take in views of the illuminated London Eye and Houses of Parliament. Don't miss the global street food stalls, serving everything from raclette to mince pies, perfect for a riverside picnic.

Revel in Tradition at Westminster Abbey

For a truly moving holiday experience, attend Evensong or a holiday carol service at the historic Westminster Abbey. The angelic voices of the choir echoing through the ancient stone corridors create an unforgettable atmosphere. As you sit among centuries of history, surrounded by Gothic architecture and twinkling candles, you'll feel transported to a Dickensian-era holiday. This service offers a peaceful respite from the bustling city and a chance to connect with London's rich heritage.

Plan Vacations Early
DON'T LET ANOTHER ‘DAY OFF’ FADE AWAY
Everyone enjoys time off - away from work, the daily grind, errands, and carpools. The problem is, there never seems to be the right time and next thing you know your anniversary, Christmas & Spring Break or some other day off is here and there are no plans …(can I get a halleluyah!)

In today’s fast-paced world, people simply forgo vacations citing a lack of time to take off or plan. Yet, we hear time and time again that taking time off is crucial for well-being and productivity. According to the U.S. Travel Association, in 2018, Americans forfeited a staggering 768 million days of unused vacation time, with over 30% lost entirely. Additionally, more than 50% of managers report feeling burned out.

Planning your vacation early can help overcome these barriers. The tides are changing with those who make time off a priority - planning 6 months to a year in advance.  But let's be honest, the plan can be even more overwhelming than taking the time off.  Who is going? When are we going? Where can everyone agree on? What will we do when we get there?

Here are some reasons why planning, and doing it early is important:

✅ Best Availability: Secure the most desirable accommodations, flights, and experiences before they sell out.
✅ Stress-Free Planning & Peace of Mind: Early booking allows for a relaxed, well-organized trip. Make sure there is ample time to ensure all details are perfect from special excursions to dining reservations and avoid the rush of last-minute arrangements.
✅ Flexibility: Enjoy greater flexibility in choosing dates and times that best suit your schedule
✅ Special Events: Secure tickets to popular events and festivals that align with your travel dates.
✅ Budget Management: Spread out costs, manage your budget more effectively with early deposits and payment plans.
✅ Anticipation: Build excitement and anticipation for your trip, making the journey even more enjoyable. It's a mindset & it works!

These are all things a Travel Advisor can help with and more.

I get asked all of the time, why do I need a Travel Advisor? If you hire an Accountant, Lawyer, Hair Stylist, Realestate/Insurance Agent or other specialist, you value your time and professional expertise.  It is a matter of maximizing your time and gaining the knowledge and abilities from a professional who spends their day researching the industry, honing their skills, uncovering the secrets, meeting with partners around the globe and working in the details.

What is better than a personalized itinerary tailor-made just for you with access to exclusive options not available to the general public, unique experiences and hidden gems?
