July is Disability Pride Month in honor of the adoption of the Americans with Disabilities Act in 1990. I will admit to having a love-hate relationship with the word “disabled." Just like “elder,” the word isn't dirty- but people treat it that way.Â
Â
We all have challenges, and I would love to live in a world where our diversity is celebrated. Â If necessity is the mother of invention, how much do we stand to learn from those with challenges that are different from our own? Â We could all move through life a little easier if we learned to be more adaptable.Â
Â
The
Sunflower Program is another tool to help those with invisible disabilities. The Nashville Airport just made this program more accessible to anyone who may need a little (or a lot) extra help when traveling. Even if you don't need assistance, it's good to know that it's available.Â

In gratitude,Â
