WEEKLY WONDERS: w/c 8 July 2024

Hi First name,
“Diving into creativity with giddy excitement and fearlessness!”
*EXCITEMENT*
“Creativity is piercing the mundane to find the marvellous.”
Bill Moyers

Giddy, wonderful excitement. Such an amazing feeling. And when you think about being creative - trying something new - do you feel excited? I do! It’s adrenaline isn’t it. Its also quite child-like - that excitable quality associated with kids. Let’s bring a bit of that into our lives!

Child-like excitement is something to cherish isn’t it. We love to see it in our kids, but can we remember what it feels like ourselves? What would make you feel that giddy right now?

It’s possibly something new. Or something that you haven’t done for ages which you loved the first time round. And isn’t this also what creativity is about - producing something novel, innovative and exciting, which triggers a little dopamine spike and makes us feel good? I’d say so!

“Creativity is at the root of excitement.”
Lawren Leo

So for this coming week, do something creative which EXCITES YOU.

Creative Thinking Prompts (w/c 8 July 2024)

  • Allow your mind to wonder about all the possibilities and different routes you could choose for whatever it is that you need to think about creatively.
  • Make your decision on which one to go ahead with by choosing the one which most excites you!
  • Which is the one which makes your heart beat a bit faster, your step skip a little springier, and your enthusiasm sing a little louder? That’s the one to choose.

And take note of the feeling before, during and after you do it.
  • The anticipation can be overwhelming (and sometimes better than the actual thing!)
  • The actual creativity can also induce feelings of euphoria if we allow it to. Try and get lost in the moment, in the flow…
  • And then afterwards, how do you feel? Was it worth it? (Usually the answer is a resounding yes!)

This can be applied to traditional creativity - art and craft activities - but also to creative thinking for your business
🤩 For example, producing marketing imagery or captions, reels etc, can be very creative and often gives an exciting feeling if the creativity is flowing!
🤩 Or maybe you simply love designing a spreadsheet and you get a kick from that!
🤩 Or networking in person - do you feel excited about meeting new people?

There’s a fine line here, between excitement and fear, but I think that knowing what excites YOU and keeping that fine balance is important.

“The secret to excitement is discovering new paths,
and having the courage to take them.”
Lawren Leo

The ‘new’ route is not always the easiest, but it’s often the most rewarding. So use your creativity to forge new directions and new experiences, and try to feel excited about them more than scared. Fortune and creativity favour the brave!

Plus who wouldn’t want to feel that child-like giddiness again?! It’s an incredible feeling!

With giddy creativity - a whole week's worth, in fact!
