 Fonkoze Newsletter

As we honor the 30 years of work Fonkoze Foundation has been doing throughout rural Haiti, we celebrate the adaptability of our teams, their commitment to reaching the women clients despite rising violence and gang activity. This past May we celebrated Haitian Heritage month and Haitian Flag Day. We are excited to share multiple events happening throughout the United States in New York City, Maine and in Miami as we continue to shine a light on Haitian culture. Keep reading for program updates and more.

Program Updates

Here are a few updates from our core programs:

CLM Ultra-poverty Program: We've recently celebrated multiple CLM graduations including 183 women in Boukankare in the Central Plateau and 160 women in Mapou in the Southeast. Our teams travel by mule or on motorbikes to reach the clients and provide services, doing their best to avoid gang-controlled routes.

Health Program: Boutik Sante continues to feel the strain of supply chain disruption and increased transportation costs. The program was forced to shrink to 12 Fonkoze locations and streamline operations. However, our team of registered nurses has been able to train new Community Health Entrepreneurs.

Capacity Development (adult education):  EdTek, Fonkoze's digital learning platform helped reinforce knowledge and promote behavioral practices related to decision-making skills. The team adapted stories to incorporate a module on disaster preparedness, prevention, and protection to women and their households in Ti Rivye de Nip, a region at risk to natural disasters such as earthquakes, floodings and hurricanes.

Access to education, health services, and poverty alleviation starts with supporters like you.
