ETSY'S NEW STANCE ON AI
GENERATED CONTENT

Etsy's CEO made an announcement yesterday about their new policies and their definitive stance on AI generated products. Their focus and new campaign still is to “keep the platform human”, but… they're also embracing AI.

In the screenshot below (taken directly from their newly published Creativity Standards), you can see that Etsy is fully allowing the use of AI to create and support digital products. This is important!

The CEO says that now, listings with products created with the support of AI will be identified as “designed by”.

He clarifies that the item does belong on Etsy 👍🏻.

Then, skip to 5:52 to hear about new filters their implementing. Will they allow people to filter out products created by AI?

Considering that sellers must now include in their descriptions if AI was used at all to support the creation of their products.

WHAT'S NOT ALLOWED

The new policies only mention prompt bundles without the finished product as a no-no 🤷🏻‍♀️. Why, though?

🧐 Because the prompt itself could have been created by AI?

🧐 Because they're adamant that if you sell AI generated anything the seller must be the one who generated the prompt using their own creativity?

🧐 Could someone circumvent this policy by selling prompts that include an example image?

So many loopholes!

CLEARLY, PEOPLE WANT AI
Most importantly: does the general buyer even care?

I use AI every single day in my business. Midjourney, Claude and ChatGPT. I do plan on creating more YouTube videos about using AI for product creation and general business use.

Do you sell products that include AI generated content?

Obviously, this is still a very opinionated subject. I will keep incorporating its use within all of my businesses.
