Hi First name / love,
How is July treating you? 🍍
Today I am officially 33 years and 3 months old, and I'm about to become an Aunt for the first time!
These celebrations of life have brought a sense of joy and buoyancy to my summer. And I've been supplementing that exuberance with lots of languorous rest
(like the luxury naps I shared about in my last email).
As a result, I've been thinking about how to balance rest and work in the summertime. 🌞 Last July, I closed my business for three weeks to travel and relax. And while it sounds glamorous, preparing for that break actually pushed me deep into burnout…
You see, the best part about running a podcast studio is that I have long-term, ongoing relationships with my clients. But the worst part is that I have long-term, ongoing work with my clients! My to-do list never ends, because the show (quite literally) always goes on.
So when I decided not to close the studio this summer, I knew I needed to find other ways to nourish and rejuvenate myself. And while I floundered a bit at first, this month I've been soaking up moments of quiet joy in my garden,
my tarot practice, my friendships, and
many, many books.
