INSIDE: NOW OFFERING PRIVATE WORKSHOPS |
|
Hello out there, internet friends. It's been a little while! Summer is in full swing here in Virginia, and it's powerfully hot and impossibly humid, so I'm preparing to leave for a few weeks, headed north to cooler climes - more on that below. The last time you heard from me, I announced the launch of The Art of Place - my new learning resource for landscape and nature photographers. Phase 1 involved expanded offerings for ONLINE MENTORING, and I am loving working closely with my small group of mentees. I do still have SOME availability, so if you've been thinking of applying, sooner is better than later as my available bandwidth narrows. You can find out more about this program below. |

Phase 2 of my launch involves private in-field workshops 🎉 I have recently discovered that I genuinely enjoy teaching in one-on-one settings, and so it feels like a natural progression and the right time for me to begin offering private workshops in the region for which I'm known and the places I know best. You can find out more about this below, where you'll also find a few other updates I think you may find interesting… Scroll down to find those! Next steps at The Art of Place: a new eBook DAWNLAND: Creative, Holisitic Approaches to Photographing Acadia National Park (coming late summer/early fall of this year), and a new, immersive mentoring program, ILLUMA, later this year. I'll be sending another edition of FIELD NOTES soon. Until then, I hope you are able to get outside and connect with the many things this season has to offer! |

Check out Ann Gillard's brand new website. Ann is one of my online mentoring students who is inspired by water and trains her eye and her camera on "things in our world that flow: oceans, rivers, landscapes, and more." Sarah Marino & Ron Coscorossa recently released a new edition of their Beyond the Grand Landscape eBook - an incredibly inspiring and thorough resource for those looking beyond the wider scenes. This update incorporates some really interesting additions - including a workbook and interviews with a dozen photographers working intimate and abstract scenes (including me). SEE THINK DO - I recently ordered these inspiration cards for myself, and I'm excited to use them on my upcoming trip to Maine. They are a bit of an investment - but so substantial and beautifully presented. I bought a new tent for my extended road trips. After a monthlong experience with a leaky tent last summer in Maine, I needed something easy, spacious, and more effective at keeping the weather out. I landed on the SHIFTPOD, a high quality shelter that can be set up quickly and easily. I'll be sharing how it performs after my return… |

The Art of Place empowers creative landscape & nature photographers to elevate their artistry and find meaningful connections with the natural world. It's like art school… but for nature photographers. |
