This week, we continue to transition from a more internal, reflective period to a more energized, active one. Mercury and Venus in Leo make us feel bold, animated, and expressive. Mars will leave Taurus and enter the busy, stimulated air sign of Gemini on Saturday. The Sun, moving through its final degrees of intuitive Cancer, will enter fiery Leo next week, officially kicking off Leo season! But before that, we have a Full Moon in Capricorn on Sunday, July 21st, at 3:17 AM PST, at the critical 29th degree of Capricorn, opposite the Sun at 29 degrees of Cancer.
This is the second Capricorn Full Moon in a row, the last one being on June 21st, right after the Summer Solstice. Follow the
link here if you want my recap on that powerful lunation. The past month has felt very āSaturnian,ā focusing on work, responsibilities, and lessons, despite the nurturing, reclusive energy of the Sun in Cancer. My friend and client Valentina put it well: āThat Capricorn Moon making you work for it!ā
So true. Capricorn, ruled by Saturn and associated with the 10th House, requires dedication, persistence, and hard work. Saturnās energy can feel burdensome at times, but it eventually rewards consistent effort. The end of June through July has been a time of testing, focusing on discipline, structure, and long-term goals, all while balancing our emotional needs (Cancer) with practical ambitions (Capricorn).
Saturn is currently in Pisces, the 12th sign representing endings and culminations. This Full Moon at the 29th degree, the final degree of Capricorn, brings a sense of urgency and a turning point. Pluto, the planet of transformation, is sitting less than a degree away at 0 degrees of Aquarius, intensifying this Full Moon. This brings up the shadow, the taboo, and the fears we might be facing, with an intense CTA towards transforming ourselves so that we can energetically align with our evolutionary future. No pressure.
With Pluto retrograde, it will hit this 29-degree point in early September, further activating current themes.
Other aspects of this Full Moon, include the Sun making a trine (flowing, supportive aspect) to Neptune in Pisces, granting us the ability to access our higher selves and spiritual intelligence. Plus Mars, who just entered Gemini the day before, making a powerful trine to Pluto, giving us intense focus and drive to communicate and take action, with the potential for breakthroughs and transformative changes.
A challenging aspect to be mindful of during this Full Moon is Mercury in Leo making a square (tense aspect) to Uranus in Taurus, recently activated by Mars. Mercury is in āshadow territory' as it's moving through a degree point that it will revisit two more times during its upcoming retrograde which begins on August 5th. Watch for fiery, abrupt, communications revolving around our sense of security, resources, and values. Anything you're thinking or speaking about during this time is likely to be part of the Mercury retrograde story from now until mid-September.
As we move into Leo season on Monday, just after the Full Moon, the Sun will oppose Pluto in Aquarius. Think back to January 20th of this year, when the Sun and Pluto were conjunct and both entered Aquarius on the same day, planting the seed for a new 20-year era. That was an intense surge of energy between our Conscious Awareness (Sun) and Evolutionary Power to Transform (Pluto). I wrote
all about it back in January if you want a refresher, but this Pluto-Sun opposition we will feel over the weekend and early next week is a checking-in point on our individual and collective transformations that are required to transport us into the future. Pluto destroys and demolishes anything that is out of evolutionary alignment. This energy will feel intense and is likely to reveal things that have been hidden (or that we've been trying to hide from..). Standing in and honoring our truth is crucial now, despite any fear.
