Hey, First name / friends!
Can I just say how fun this month’s challenge has been so far? 😍 Nothing lights me up more as an educator than seeing the progress that the artists in our community are making.

It’s truly incredible to see all of the stunning holiday collections coming together!

#CreateWithCatCoq Holiday Mini-Collection Part 4 of 5
Hero Illustration - Knit Pattern
This week, it’s time for our third and final hero illustration! Keeping with the cozy theme, this week’s challenge is to make a geometric knit pattern.

I created this knit design by arranging digitized acrylic shapes in Photoshop. I made it years ago before I was savvy at repeat patterns, so even though it looks like a pattern, it’s not a true repeat.

That means that it can work on smaller products like greeting cards, plates, tea towels, throw pillows, etc. But it wouldn’t work on wrapping paper, wallpaper, fabric, or other larger products that require a true repeating pattern.

I plan to re-work this design into a repeat pattern eventually so that it’s more versatile, but since this mini-collection is focused on greeting card designs, it works just fine in its current form.

I can’t wait to see your cozy designs this week! Share your illustration on Instagram with the hashtag #CreateWithCatCoq and make sure to tag me in the image @catcoq for a chance to be featured!

Reminder: You don’t have to follow this prompt exactly if it doesn’t fit with the theme of your collection – just create another hero design or complex pattern that coordinates with the artwork you’ve already created.

Presenting Your Mini-Collection
If you’re designing a collection for a specific product, one of the best ways to present your collection is by using mockups. I chose to design my holiday mini-collection for greeting cards, and I used a mockup file that showcases my designs on cards and in the envelope liners.

Next week, we’ll wrap up the challenge with one final prompt, and I’ll be sharing my free mini-collection tear sheet templates that I use to display my own mini-collections.
