INSIDE: IN MY BAG & ON MY BOOKSHELF |
|
Hello out there, friends. I'm just back from my last minute trip to Acadia National Park, and excited and energized about the beauty I witnessed there as well as the many projects I have on the go at the moment. The last time you heard from me, I announced Phase 2 of the launch of The Art of Place - my new learning resource for landscape and nature photographers. I now have expanded offerings for ONLINE MENTORING, and I am also available for PRIVATE WORKSHOPS in my home territory (and occasionally beyond). For more information on those options, see below. And don't forget about my eBookstore! |

Next up at The Art of Place: a new eBook DAWNLAND: Creative, Holisitic Approaches to Photographing Acadia National Park, and a new, immersive mentoring program, ILLUMA, later this year. In the interim, I have some new posts in my Notebook I thought you might enjoy, including some unique book recommendations and an updated post on WHAT'S IN MY CAMERA BAG (I got some new equipment), and an announcement that can save you $250! Read more below. I'll be sending another edition of FIELD NOTES soon. Until then, I hope you are able to get outside and connect with the many things this season has to offer! |

The Velvet Queen is a visually stunning and meditative documentary that follows the journey of wildlife photographer Vincent Munier and writer Sylvain Tesson as they seek the elusive snow leopard in the Tibetan highlands. The film captures the serene beauty of nature and the deep connection between the two men and their surroundings, creating a profound sense of reverence for the wild. With its breathtaking cinematography and thoughtful pacing, The Velvet Queen offers a reflective escape into wilderness, leaving a lasting impression on the viewer. Along the same lines as the SEE THINK DO cards I recommended in Edition 2 of Field Notes, OUISI cards are an engaging and versatile tool that encourages creative thinking and visual storytelling through beautifully designed photo cards. They inspire users to make connections and spark conversations, making them a great resource for visual experimentation. They now have a Nature version of these cards - might be purchasing those soon! My fave app right now: Daily Art - my daily dose of inspiration showcasing a new artwork each day, complete with insightful descriptions and historical context. Expand your artistic vocabulary, grow your knowledge of art. |
