Someone turned on the big light. The overhead light, you know the one.
And in its glaring fluorescence, we can no longer pretend that we don’t see our own BS—or the BS of others, for that matter. We can try to hide our face or cover our eyes, but what’s the point? To remain in denial? To prolong your own stagnation?
Nah, baby. You’ve been doing the work, and in the last month you’ve made incredible progress practicing what you preach. Don’t let the big picture overwhelm you. Take a good long look at the whole of it, and over the next two weeks make the necessary changes to your boundaries and investments so that you can move into the next month unburdened by outdated narratives about your worth, creatively and relationally. Although things may not look how you expected them to by now—in fact they might be so different that it’s tough to feel good about the changes you have made—don’t let the discrepancies become cavernous places to hide in disappointment. The world isn’t the same place it was when you first had your dream, and that’s okay! You’ve already practiced adaptation, and the trappings of your dreams are flexible.
So much has been illuminated at this point, and as a collective we are standing amidst anxiety-inducing piles of information, systems, values, and resources that desperately need to be sorted, washed, and given new function. We have all the information we need to make progressive collective movement, but in many ways there is still great fear of commitment to the changes. We don’t yet have collective trust of each other or faith in our ability to follow through. So we must continue to practice that commitment at an individual scale, and with our friends, family, and close community. When we demonstrate to ourselves and to those around us that we are individually informed, willing, and accountable, we build stronger foundations for community and collective movements.
How willing you have been to look critically at your maturity, your creative mark, or the house in your chart ruled by Capricorn, will determine the level of discomfort during this weekend’s full moon. And it is uncomfortable for many. Especially after we have made such massive strides, it can feel disheartening to know that there is still work to be done before we can really reap the benefits. Much like the historical trends of work for this season, where even during the long hot days of summer, it was necessary to put in some work during the cool hours of morning and evening to tend crops and prepare for the larger harvests to come. It will serve your becoming to get some water and pick up the tools again this weekend.
Even still, I’m impressed with the energy for humor and engagement that so many of us are tapping into while sneaker waves of new information splash over our phones and events unfold with unbelievable alarm and pageantry each day. We can see so much more and so clearly in the brightness that at this point to not acknowledge the sheer monstrosity of it all, is to give up. And by the same token, responsibility is not solely individual. You cannot take on all that you see. But by reclaiming your personal power in the fray, by committing to your individuation as a unique part of a whole, accountability becomes a shared value. Because it is only by our commitment equally to ourselves and our community, which includes our planet, that we will find resolution. Then, we may begin to see our way to a healthy future, to resolution.
—Full Moon in Capricorn—
This lunar month has given us the space and time to reflect and expand internally, introspectively, and individually. When the sun moves into Leo on Monday, we may find ourselves more inclined to externalize this energy, bring it out onto the stage and into practice. Until then, give yourself the space and time to hole up if you need to, let the tears flow, wrap yourself in a big blanket with the fan on and eat a box of popsicles. Feel it all and feel it deep, so that you can create room for the new that is yet to come. What has been built on faulty foundations will come crumbling down around us, which could cause pain or heartbreak, or it may be that we are dodging a bullet…
The Full Moon in Capricorn peaks Sunday morning at 3:16am PDT, and will illuminate our skies tonight and tomorrow, reflecting back like a mirror to the last month. At its zenith, this full moon will be at 29° Capricorn, which is known as a critical degree. In this placement, we might feel a more focused pressure on our maturity, a discomfort where we may still be holding onto narratives or feelings that no longer serve our direction. To add to that pressure, the moon is also conjunct Pluto, our dark transformer, in this critical degree. Whatever is unresolved will be purged and exposed to the light, whether you’re ready to face it or not. However, the full moon is also trine Mars, which can lend constructive energy to this otherwise daunting transit. We are seeking understanding within ourselves, on many levels. And while aspects with Uranus and Neptune could make this all seem a little dream or unstable, trust your intuition and follow through. You’ll find your footing on the other side if you haven’t already.
Outside of the full moon, we have some aspects that could be distracting from the deeper emotional issues at hand. New trends and a focus on how things look, as well as some rebellious thinking, could easily keep us focused on the surface level. Playing the devil’s advocate just for the sake of argument can be an enlightening exercise, but mind that you aren’t getting sucked into the weeds and semantics nor sacrificing the benefit of connection for entertainment or pride. Conversations with friends and family this weekend are best engaged in light-heartedly unless it’s your trusted confidante, and then SPILL.
FOR THE BODY
Capricorn rules the knees, joints, and cartilage.
â—¦
Be gentle with your joints and take yourself for a swim (in true Capricorn fashion).
â—¦
Lemon balm grows lushly this time of year and when taken as a tea can aid indigestion as well as anxiety. It has a soothing effect on the body and a bright lemony flavor that is delicious when served in fruit salads (like one made with your fresh berries!)
â—¦
Increase your collagen intake through leafy greens and seaweed
â—¦
Work with and wear garnet to boost your creativity, deepen your sensuality, and support the heart and blood; onyx to ground you into yourself and promote stability; jet to break unwanted behaviors; and smoky quarts to protect and uplift you by filtering the energy around you.

—Buck Moon—
The full moon in July is known as the Buck Moon, and is one of my favorite full moons of the year. Known for the time when the bucks have grown their antlers to full range before they begin to shed them, this moon corresponds beautifully with the themes of maturation, ingenuity and creative purpose during a Full Moon in Capricorn, as well as the arrival of Leo season. The pride of a buck is his antlers, and each year he is able to grow them bigger and grander, despite each winter shedding them down to nubs. At the Buck Moon we are reminded again of how much we’ve grown this year, who we’ve become, and what mark we will leave on this world.
In Tlingit cultures of Alaska, Canada, and the PNW, this moon is known as the Salmon Moon for the return and harvest of the prized fish. And in Western Abanaki, the Thunder Moon reminds us that storms are an inevitable result of changing weather and shifting pressure. Sometimes, they are louder than they are destructive. And sometimes, the pattering rain just won’t stop until the rivers reclaim their banks. How we respond to these during times of crisis and even of threat, is directly correlated to our maturity and our driving sense of purpose.
