Navigating the 'Runout' –
Finding Meaning Beyond Accomplishments!
Hey First name
I hope this newsletter finds you well. This might be a surprise in your mailbox because I don’t write many of these.
Lately, I have been going through a weird phase and I want to share something deeply personal and reflective that has been on my mind.

I believe many of us, especially those with high aspirations, might resonate with the concept of "runout."

Experiencing the 'Runout'
The term "runout" comes from alpine climbing and describes the distance between a climber and their last piece of protection. In our lives, it symbolizes those moments when we feel accomplished yet stuck, questioning our next steps despite a fulfilling journey.

The Accomplished Life That Feels Incomplete
I've lived an incredible life, full of cultural exposure and unique experiences. Yet, like many, I’ve faced moments of feeling lost despite my achievements. This isn't burnout or a midlife crisis but a reassessment of life and goals. It's the space between where you are and where you want to be, filled with uncertainty and introspection.

Overcoming the Runout
To navigate this phase, I've identified several strategies that have helped me and might help you too:
  1. Mindfulness: Being aware of your thoughts and feelings without judgment.
  2. Reframing: Changing your internal dialogue to find positive perspectives.
  3. Countering Negativity: Balancing negative thoughts with multiple positive ones.
  4. Embracing Emotions: Allowing yourself to feel and process your emotions.
Positive Posture: Using body language to influence your mental state.

Finding Meaning Through Community
Our emotions guide our thoughts and actions. By understanding and regulating them, we can create a life that feels meaningful and self-determined. Remember, life is enriched by the connections we build and the support we give to others.
I invite you to read my latest blog post where I delve deeper into the "runout" phenomenon and share more insights on how to overcome it. Let's continue climbing together and find renewed purpose in our journeys.
