a fun collaboration

We love partnering with local small businesses (female owned is a big plus) and we're excited to be working alongside The House Finch on some future design projects! Meghan Brodie is the mastermind behind this company – helping clients organize their homes, optimize their storage and declutter their spaces. It's a perfect partnership with our design offerings.

By collaborating with a professional organizer, we can bring the best of both worlds to your interior design project—creating not only a thoughtful, beautiful space that you love but one that is also highly functional and well organized.

Together, we will ensure that every detail is tailored to fit your lifestyle while maintaining a seamless, stylish design.

kitchen (re)design

A kitchen remodel can take on many forms – it's not always a full renovation. When we start talking kitchens, our first goal is to figure out how you want to use your kitchen. Everyone is different and has their own preferences – so it's not enough to simply look through photos.

There are several things to ask and consider as you start planning:
  • How does your current kitchen work for you? Are you looking for better functionality? A more modern look? More storage?
  • Do you cook often? Entertain a lot? Need more space for meal prep?
  • How much do you want to spend? What are your must-haves vs your nice-to-haves?
  • Does the current layout work for you? Do you need a better flow?
  • Are your cabinets meeting your storage needs? Is your pantry functional?
  • What are your preferences for lighting, countertops, appliances, clever storage options?
So. Many. Questions.

We've worked on several different types of kitchen redesigns and each one is unique. Even if your kitchen doesn't need a full remodel, getting a new set of eyes and ears to offer a fresh perspective can make a world of difference in how your kitchen looks, feels and functions.

REMODEL & REFRESH
Design Goal: To freshen up the space but keep the same layout and existing cabinetry.

A partial remodel was just what this space needed to freshen up the overall look and feel. We kept the same layout and put a fresh coat of paint on the existing cabinetry (which was in excellent condition and great quality), changed out the granite to new quartz countertops and replaced the tile backsplash – totally transforming the space without the expense of a full renovation.

REWORK & RENOVATE
Design Goal: To completely redesign the existing layout to create a better flow and optimize the space and function of this large kitchen.

This kitchen took on several iterations to get it just right for the homeowners. We don't always recommend removing windows but in this case the window overlooked a driveway and didn't serve a purpose on that far wall. By removing the window and relocating the refrigerator, we were able to create a beautiful focal point. We kept the existing pantry and created a small wet bar that's perfect when entertaining. The honed granite countertops were the cherry on top to this beautiful renovation!

REVAMP & REDESIGN
Design Goal: To create an easy, natural flow with a large island.

This kitchen was quite a design challenge -- to create a functional kitchen with plenty of storage, a wine fridge, a full size refrigerator and a large island with seating. The large wall (cork board) is the main floor powder room and couldn't be moved, but it gave us plenty of room to add a full size refrigerator here for a busy family. By opening up the doorway into the dining room, we could squeeze in a bar area with a wine fridge and glass cabinetry. Reorienting the island gave this kitchen an entirely different look and feel and thoughtfully arranging cabinetry gave plenty of space for a large pantry cabinet and plenty of storage.

life lately

September has felt like a whirlwind with all the things – starting a new high school for my youngest, sending off my sophomore to his new apartment in Blacksburg and settling in my senior in Charlottesville! We've had some fun Fall weekends full of tailgating, homecomings, high school reunions and a quick visit to The Bluebird.

gift guides

We're excited to pull together a few of our favorite finds for holiday gifts – coming next month.

fan favorites

These are some of our favorite home & design finds that are sometimes super random - but always a fan favorite.

The Rifle Paper collab with Target has some cute items but I especially love the planters - great size, great quality and super cute designs. The flat plug is an inexpensive upgrade to your plugs because it allows you to plug in several items while not taking up space. These enable you to slide furniture back towards the wall and gain 2-3" of extra space.

This Anthro dress is my go-to (in so many fun patterns) and have you heard of a fandelier?! It's a ceiling fan that also functions as a small chandelier. We used this is in the bunk room at The Bluebird for a safer ceiling fan option and it's amazing!

design projects

We have several Fall projects underway and will take on just a few more as we wrap up the year.

If you have a design project in mind and want to get on our calendar, let's chat!

As always, thank you for supporting my small business!
