HOW to be a public
ARTIST

Hi First name / friend_

There are now 54 days until the opening of Hands of Trinidad — but my exhibition is more than just a show; it’s a step towards a much larger goal I’ve set for myself this year.

The Goal: Become a public artist by 2025.
The Problem: Do it without burning out.
The Solution: Use a proven system (surprise surprise, its my Notion system 😉).

WHAT?
Public art, in its purest form, is an intentional act of public engagement. It requires equal co-creation with the community and the intention of being observed by that community.

WHY?
After 10 years in commercial photography, I hit burnout trying to live the 'dream' as an NYC creative. They say, “Do what you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life,” but they don’t mention it might turn what you love into work.

Now, my camera is more than just a tool for capturing moments — it’s a medium for sharing stories and history with the community. Making the art public lets people witness themselves and participate in their own history.

HOW?
First, I'm creating some passive income with the launch of @not_not_studio by offering you guys the same systems that I use. You can check out some of my NOTION TEMPLATES HERE.

I am following my own system in order to turn my goal into a reality. Day to day, the habit tracker helps me stay in artistic flow with morning pages, while my project database keeps operations running smoothly as a CEO.

Stay tuned — I'll be releasing my Life Operating System this fall. This will include the complete system that I use to manage my entire life, and I mean that literally.

✌ Until next week, Daryl Oh
