The Littleton Downtown Development Authority’s (LDDA) mission is to steer the economic vitality of the district through collaborative efforts that cultivate a vibrant community where businesses thrive, residents are actively engaged, and visitors are eager to return. The Problem The majority of the trees along Main Street in Downtown Littleton had to be removed due to disease. These trees provided many things, particularly shade, a green canopy, and holiday lighting and ambiance during the holidays. New trees are unlikely to be planted until the Denver Water project along Main Street is completed and the City’s Project Downtown initiative begins. The Solution LDDA will purchase, install, and maintain live trees along Main Street for the holiday season. The trees will be placed in non-permanent tree boxes along Main Street and lit with decorative lights November through January. At the program’s completion, the trees will be moved and planted into permanent locations around Downtown Littleton, creating a stronger urban tree canopy and contributing to the long-term sustainability and greening of Downtown Littleton. Businesses and community members can sponsor this program at various levels to help bring the festive cheer back to our Main Street this holiday season! See additional program details and sponsorship levels HERE. |

LDDA Marketing & Communications |
|
The Littleton DDA is guided by its Plan of Development, which provides a road map for potential future investments in physical improvements, maintenance, programs and services for the betterment of downtown to be implemented by the DDA. The plan identifies five primary themes of improvement for downtown that were established based on feedback from stakeholders. One of the themes is centered around being business-friendly and vibrant. Boost downtown vibrancy and business support by providing consolidated professional downtown marketing and event planning and promotion. Implementation of this theme includes executing a professional marketing plan that aims to increase visitation and sales. The snapshot above represents some important marketing milestones year-to-date. |

City Updating Business Incentive Policy as Part of New Economic Development Strategy |
|
The Littleton City Council will consider a new business incentive policy for the city.
The policy was drafted by the Economic Development Department as part of the city’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) that was adopted in March. Updating the policy is one of the primary action items included in the CEDS for the next two years.
The updated policy will be more clear for business owners when requesting financial support from the city. The goal is to provide a better structure for the incentives and to foster a true partnership between business owners and the city.
"Incentive policies can leverage areas that have historically been hard to develop due to financial stressors," said Economic Development Specialist Jamie Crout. "Allowing financial incentives can free up funds for developers or property owners for their development. It also is a benefit to the city, as new sales tax revenue could be generated from a place that was not previously activated." |
