This Neurodivergent Newsletter is seen by hundreds of adults who share my interest of all things Neurodivergent!  Do you have something you'd like to put out there? Do you have an awesome special interest that would be fun for us to learn about?  Do you have a sensory product that has changed your life?  Do you have outrage that you'd like to get off your chest?  Have you read a book or listened to a podcast that changed your perspective?  Are you running a business that is doing great things for the Neurodivergent community? We'd love to hear it!

If you have anything you would like to share in this newsletter, please let me know.  You are free to share anonymously if that's your jam, or if you'd like to put something out there and include your name and contact, that's cool too!  Sharing is caring, and community is EVERYTHING.

Email me if you have ideas!

Let's talk about executive functioning!
Anyone else buy an apple watch to help you “adult” better and now…well… you're not really sure what to do with it?
A recent conversation with my favorite creative genius at @rainydayrenegadeshop on IG led to some serious pro tip sharing.  So I'm passing this on to you!

She shared some kick ass ideas for for using your apple watch (without getting distracted by your phone) as a tool to get your life together!

•Press the dial and say “set timer for x amount of time.” to set a silent timer that will vibrate when your time is up.  (reminders that no one around you has to know about?  yes please.)
• Push the side button to ask Siri what the weather is before getting dressed if you haven't had the time to pay attention
•Push the side button and ask Siri to do the math for the tip you're trying to figure out.
•Set your alarm through Siri on your apple watch so you don't even have to open your eyes to make sure you get up tomorrow.  •You can also tell Siri to “delete all your alarms” if you don't have to get up!

And if none of those tips thrill you…"find my iPhone" button makes the Apple Watch the mvp electronic in this house.

And if you have a great sense of humor, want to support small ND businesses,  and need stickers…we absolutely cannot say enough good things about Rainy Day Renegade (link below).
media
The New York Times published an article last month that discussed Autistic employees in the workplace.

The comment section online is loaded with first hand experience that seems to sum up what I hear from clients.

What do you think????

Confession, I don't read fiction.  Ever.
Confession #2: I burn through non-fiction Autism related books at a rate that is probably unhealthy.  And…it's certainly not helping me socialize with with people who are not therapists.

I told my family I could read a book that wasn't about Autism. Turns out, I think I was wrong, but points should be awarded for trying!

Great summer read by Emily Henry.  Sadly, Emily and I are not friends, and it would be totally unfair to speculate as to whether or not she is Neurodivergent…but I'm just going to say that Daphne, the main character was giving me all the Neurospicy vibes.
•librarian
•felt like she didn't have an identity in her relationship
•predictable life
•very confused about how to make friends
•obsessed with reading
•trouble with boundaries
•brilliant
•creative

I won't ruin the book for you.  But I will say, Daphne (and the other characters) made me laugh and held my interest all week.  I couldn't put this book down.

If you happen to know Emily Henry…and she seems friendly…ask her if she's up to talking about the Neurology of her characters.  K Thanks!

And while we're at it….how do you know if your reading interest is a hobby or a special interest?
Happy Summer!
Kory
