I'm keeping it short and sweet this week, because Covid (whomp whomp). A forced rest was not what I had in mind for my week, but it's going around right now and I know some of you are dealing with it too. I'm with you! 

 

Here's to making space for rest, listening to what your body needs, and remembering that there are rarely emergencies in business—that to-do list and email reply can wait!

 

One of the design commands I use over and over again in Illustrator is offset path--anyone else? I'm a big fan of saving time with keyboard shortcuts, but this particular action doesn't have a default shortcut. Did you know you can easily customize this or other shortcut keys to whatever you want? 

 

Go to the edit menu, scroll down to keyboard shortcuts, and search for the tool or command you want to customize. Just click the corresponding box and enter the symbol you want to assign to that command. If you're using a different design program, there's likely an easy way to customize your shortcuts too, just google it! Your fingers will thank me.

 

I got suspended from Instagram over the weekend because one of my comment replies was designated as spam (?). Thankfully it was a pretty quick process to appeal and get reinstated, but a great reminder that we do not own our social media pages. That's what makes an email list so valuable, it can't be taken away by a random bot's error!

 

I have several laser friends setting up flodesk accounts this month (it's my favorite email platform because their monthly fee doesn't rise as your subscribers increase), let this be another friendly nudge to get yours going if you haven't already!
