Summer isn't over yet… and neither is summer entertaining season! Last month, I had the pleasure of going on Great Day Washington (LIVE tv!) to discuss all things art and art consulting. Host Ellen Bryan was so much fun to chat with! I gave 3 tips on how to quickly refresh your home for seasonal entertaining (hint: they all involve art). The best part? These ideas are perfect for ANY time of the year. And in case you missed the show, I'm breaking down all the details for you.
3 Art Tips for a Home Refresh
Beyond your walls - display art in unexpected places.
Style your bookshelves, a mantle, or even a side or console table with mini masterpieces.
01
I love small artworks! They typically have reasonable price points and are the perfect way to collect an original piece from a favorite artist. Additionally, small pieces are easy to move or store when not on display. Pro-Tip: Works on panel can stand on their own, while tiny easels or magnetic acrylic frames provide more great options for displaying your favorites. Swap out these mini masterpieces depending on the season, and you’ll always have a fresh look that reflects your current mood.
Frame (or reframe) something you already own.
If you want to add a finished, polished look to any painting, just add framing.
02
Framing helps to define a piece against your wall and really make it stand out. Just like fashion and interior design trends, frame styles chosen years ago can feel outdated. Additionally, over time, frames themselves can get dinged, scratched, or broken. Whatever the case, fresh, updated framing is called for. I promise you, if it's a piece you love, then investing in new framing is completely worth it.
Don't be afraid to go BIG.
Large-scale artwork creates a natural focal point in any room.
03
A fabulous color moment will immediately draw your eye into a space, while tiny details will have your guests moving in for a closer look! A large piece of art is attention grabbing for all the right reasons and a fun conversation starter for those summer dinner parties.
I hope these tips inspire you to add a little (or BIG!) art refresh to your home. And of course, if you need help sourcing and selecting the perfect art piece, don't hesitate to reach out. Know someone who would like this newsletter? Forward it along and they can subscribe here.
