The ‘FREEDOM’ OF CHOICE

not not (newsletter)

Hi First name / friend_

In 2024, you can have what you want, whenever you want it. Literally.

You need to go somewhere — Uber.
You need to eat something — DoorDash.
You need to date someone — Tinder.

Right now — writing from my studio in Trinidad, CO — two of the above are not available and one of them is just not a great idea.

There are none of these conveniences for me in a town with only one major traffic light. But the initial inconvenience quickly became a liberation of my time.

We associate ‘freedom’ with choices or options — but too many choices become a prison.

I think this is why we have collectively become obsessed with routine: the “get ready with me,” the ‘Huberman Husband,’  and the cycle syncing.

I know I’m guilty of adding a new trending habit to my habit stack — but what I’m talking about here is not a fad. Eliminating unnecessary choice is a lifelong commitment.

My dad always said, “You would lose you head if it weren’t attached,” so I need a simplification system to keep my life together.

Coming back to Trinidad, living out of a suitcase in a single room for nine weeks, I get to only focus on the most essential things.

That is why I teach a system that doesn’t add more things to your life, but allows you to be ruthless with your daily choices.

So I pose these question to you, wherever you are…

1. What do you want to eliminate?
2. What do you want to get off of your plate?
3. If you scheduled your basic needs first, how much time is left on your calendar?

Do you really want to spend that time deciding the perfect 10-step skincare routine or browsing more fast fashion?

If you’ve followed me this far, follow me into this week…

— When I apply this process in my photo work.
— I’ll cover why I shoot exactly the same photo every time.
— And why I go through the hassle of film at all.

🔥 coming soon…
