Updates from Fonkoze
Dear Fanmi ak Zanmi, Family and Friends,

Next month we are excited to share voices and testimonies of hope through our We Are Fonkoze - Nou Se Fonkoze campaign marking the Fonkoze Foundation's 30 years of impact in Haiti. We invite everyone with a story about Fonkoze, Haiti, and the women we serve, to connect with us on social media, or email, tagging @fonkoze. Help us change the narrative about Haiti and spread the word about the grassroots impact of working shoulder-to-shoulder to accompany Haitian women out of poverty.

You can learn more about the We Are Fonkoze campaign on our website. Reply to this email with your own photo in support of Fonkoze and a quote or video sharing your support to be shared during the campaign.

Our team had the opportunity to experience the new Haiti: Art, Religion, and Culture exhibition at the Latin American Culture Center in Pittsburgh, PA, this past weekend. Our executive Director, Erlantz Hyppolite, interpreted the exhibit pieces as he worked with the Haitian artists to write and record the artwork descriptions, incorporating his historical knowledge of Haiti's culture and the artists' insights.

Finally, for those in New England, please mark your calendars for an extraordinary Haitian culture event duo in Rockport, Maine, on October 19. The events are part of Fonkoze'z 30th anniversary and will feature a film screening of Kite Zo A (Leave the Bones), a post-screening discussion, Haitian cuisine bites by Chef Alain Lemaire, and traditional Haitian music by Lakou Mizik.

The film screening is preceded in the morning by a children's Haitian culture event exploring the musical culture of Haiti by children's book author, Regine Theodat from Isse & Lo. These events are made possible by the Lesher Family Foundation.

Below are links and more stories and events coming this year, including a friendraiser in Washington DC. We invite you to continue changing the narrative of Haitians and Haitian culture by sharing positive stories and voicing your support, and donating what you can.
