Hey y'all—

Thanks to everyone who reached out regarding the figs and shared photos of their creations! We managed to give away more than 500 figs. 🤯 All remaining batches on the tree have been reserved for the season—so let's do this again next summer! 😎

And I swear this is the last time you'll have to hear about the figs but please clap for this batch of fig jam—this was about 6 lbs of figs that were starting to break and split due to the crazy rainfall a few days ago. Immediately threw that jam on some sourdough toast with fresh ricotta, both purchased from our favorite neighborhood cheese shop, Stand Alone!

I don't know about y'all but there's gotta be more to this story than waterspouts. The British tech billionaire, Mike Lynch, was celebrating his recent acquittal of 15 felony accounts in a case with Hewlett-Packard with friends and family on his yacht. HP accused him of overvaluing his software company Autonomy at the time of its acquisition. HP had acquired the company for $11 billion. Just two days before the yacht sinking, Lynch's co-defendent and Autonomy's former VP of finance was struck and killed in a car accident. 🧐

I went down a rabbithole but I've got nothing. Just this article on how climate change is making waterspouts increasingly common—the supposed culprit of the yacht sinking.. 🤨🕵🏾‍♀️

I'm glad I'm fully up to speed on waterspout mechanics but this ain't it. Kindly pass along your conspiracy theories - please and thank you.

WE'RE watching—
Industry & Emily in Paris via hbo max & netflix

Gosh. I'm so glad Industry is back. The streaming options have been lacking as of late, no? I didn't know what to think of Jon Snow joining the cast but after Episode 2, I'm intrigued where Yasmin and this character goes. As for our Harpsichord—she needs to get her head back in the game! Vulture always has great recaps in case you're behind but fair warning, there's usually tons of spoilers.

And then there's Season 4 of Emily in Paris—the perfect, mindless summer watch. Please enjoy this photo of Emily dressed as the Hamburglar. I'm upset they split the season, so we'll need to wait a month to binge the remaining episodes.

We're TALKING ABOUT—
QNS to the WRLD  THE GLOBAL RUNDOWN
Since May 2024, holdings of physically backed gold ETFs have risen by 90.4 tonnes, equivalent to $7.3 billion 🌟
According to the peer reviewed study in the BMJ medical journal, high doses of psilocybin appear to have a similar effect on depression as the popular antidepressant drug escitalopram. 🍄🌈✨
I feel the WHO and CDC are severely underplaying how quickly mpox is spreading through close contact—even the possibility of it being airborne. And yes, I got vaxxed 2 years ago when I saw what the cystic facial lesions looked like from the NYC cases. Call me vain but I spend too much on skincare to be out in the streets like this! There's 2 doses and I had no side effects—just soreness at the injection site on my arm. Get vaxxed! 🐒🦠💉
An opinion piece by Ta Nehisi-Coates where he reflects on the DNC: “Maybe more than in any other year, this DNC has urged its various constituencies to highlight their identities and the collective pain that animates them. Racism, forced birth, land theft. It has been an exhibition of what the Palestinian scholar Edward Said called “the permission to narrate,” and it is that permission that Palestinian Americans have been denied.”
This article is full of interesting data points surrounding Burberry's share price plummet of over 50% this year. It suggests that 30% of their sales comes from off-price retail and that if Burberry wishes to move upmarket, they must go cold-turkey on their outlets or look to Michael Kors and Coach's strategy—operate flagship stores at a loss and double-down on off-price outlets to boost profits. 🤯🛍️
Well that didn't last too long. The judge wrote that the FTC had overstepped its power when it approved the ban stating "the FTC lacks substantive rulemaking authority with respect to unfair methods of competition. The role of an administrative agency is to do as told by Congress, not to do what the agency think[s] it should do.” ⚖️👩🏾‍⚖️
